Are you sure you want to bust into the cluster? It's kinda the gateway to everything... very bad thing can happen.
You can disable the needle sweep with VCDS if that's the only time it "grinds".

 

I have already disabled it. I am afraid this is only the first level of broken cluster. I don't want to find out one day that they are not working at all.

 

I disabled the sweep on mine when I got my VCDS. I had a feeling something like this might happen to mine.
Do you hear any noise when driving it/going through RPM range etc.?

 

Looks like I said a bunch of crap up above.... you're only going to take out the MOST ring... there's worse things to be breaking in the system.

 

Hard to say. I will need to focus more on it during driving. But I did not see any shuttering or lags in needles movement.
