What are the tread depths across the 4 tires you have just removed?

If they are even, don't bother.

 

The tires are wearing evenly. I've put about 15k miles on it, since purchasing it, and figured an alignment wouldn't hurt. Until I saw the quote--that hurt.

 

I would try a different dealer. I had three local VW dealers quote me 3 different prices $300, $500 and $650 for a transmission flush.

 

Mine charges 150 for every other VW, $250 for the Treg. They recommended a radar alignment but did not require i elect to pay for that, so I didn’t. Sometimes my ACC is a little funky but I use it in situations most people wouldn’t so I think it’s just the nature of being ACC not really any misbehaviors due to misalignment.

 

I paid roughly 250 for 4 wheel alignment, Oil Change and rotation on 17' Wolfsburg last month. I have ACC but no 360 camera

 

I got a lifetime alignment package from Pep Boys 10+ years ago. I have it checked annually. Perfectly even tire wear. Unless making major adjustments, I don't see why anything would need to be recalibrated.

 

If your tires are wearing evenly then it doesn't need an alignment. If it isn't broken don't fix it.

 

It doesn't track straight on the interstate.

 

everything is comically overpriced at the dealer. theyre finding reasons to justify their incredible upcharge multiplier.

find a different shop if you really feel like you need an alignment, but it sounds like you dont.

 

Just had (4) new tires put on and an alignment for $159.95 @ VW dealer.

My Mk7 Golf R, they wanted to charge me ~$600 with all the ACC lane keep assist etc becasue the rear toe was out of alignment and they said they needed to re-calibrate radar etc. Sucks balls...
VW charges way too much because the machines they use are expensive so they need to pay for them

 

Caveat Emptor must be exercised when purchasing a loaded with features and gimmicks new vehicle so you don't get staggered when services are required for your ride.

 

Ask your dealer to just check your alignment and give you a printout..... not adjustments needed.... should only cost less than an hour, maybe an hour if they really want to rape you (which it's obvious that they do).

 

I can provide recommended places, if needed. LOL

 

I use the same dealer and have pretty much lost confidence in their ability after a 60 days of check engine lite issues

 

Which is why I keep telling anyone that will listen to spend $200 and own a VCDS so they can at least have a hint of what's going on without needing to rely on clowns and butchers.

 

Do you have a recommendation or a preferred VCDs for touareg (2022 V6 diesel R-line) Are there many options?

 

I recently swapped on my set of winter wheels/tires and decided to have an alignment done. The local stealership quoted me $667 for an alignment due to being "equipped with safety systems as ACC and lane change and 360 view." Which they claim will require recalibration after adjustment to the thrust angle.

My previous Volvo had more advanced "safety systems" than this Touareg and an alignment ran $125 at the dealer.

Can anyone confirm what they have paid for alignments on their Touaregs?

Thats the reason I stopped patronizing my VW dealer in Bluffton SC. A complete rip off on everything they do,

 

Seems pretty fair and reasonable to me. You'll be running like a dream

 

The Touareg is no longer sold in the US so US-based Ross-Tech will not have first hand experience of the Generation 3 cars hence the advice to ask how up to date VCDS is.

 

Yes, I realise that. I'll check with a firm here in Australia. Vw have considerable market share here, not just in VW but the other brands also, someone will know. Thanks for the comments Guys.
