Hi guys I currently have 275/45/19 on my atheos, I’m thinking on getting Michellins 285/45/19. Is there any difference in performance gas mileage? 285’s probably little bit heavier. Tell me what do you think?

According to diameter calculation. 285/45/19 is only 0.2% larger than 255/55/18, while 275/45/19 is 1% smaller than 255/55/18. So the mileage reading should be accurate enough. Weight should not differ much. Only concern is that you want to measure if there is 10mm extra space when you turn the wheels to avoid scuffing against the fenders.
For sure there will be more grip for cornering. Your tire will be 10mm wider and sidewall will only be 4.5mm thicker and I don't know whether that makes much difference for offroading.
Personally I would good for the 285 tyres they provide your wheels with extra protection from kerb rash (ie when my wife tries to park) there has been no difference in handling or performance.
There are a larger selection of 285/45 tyres on the market so you should be able to find a harder wearing tyre than the Diamaris I am running.
I picked up two punctures in the first two weeks (neighbours were buidling an extension to their house!!) but have had no problem since although I am now on my third set of Atheo wheels (they corrode very easily and VW replace them without any problem).
Apart from that I have had no problems with them and I still have approx 9mm of tread left on them having covered 17000miles in 14 months (I rotate the wheels front to back twice a year).
Just put a set of the Michelin HP's on my Atheos 19's but just did the standard size 275's. Really like the tires, handle about 95% of the Continentals but much nicer ride and less noise. Hoping to get a little more life out of them too. Expensive buggers but seem worth it so far.
We recently replaced our tires and we opted for the 285/45/19 size tires. One of the reasons for going with the 285s was that it opened us up to more tire choices plus they were a few dollars cheaper vs the same tire in the 275 size. We ended up getting General Grabber UHP to replace the Micelin Diamaris. We have been extremely pleased with the Grabbers and would say that they at least merit consideration.
Yes we were happy with the Diamaris, they were fine tires. We were looking for a bit more tread life. After 6 weeks of searching, I believe we found a comparable tire performance wise, a little more tread life, and less expensive. General Grabber UHP
I need new tires, what should i get, i want goodyear MTR's but i have 19 inch rims and i dont think that they make those for this rim. I would like an off road tire, kinda sick of the sport tires i have now, what should i do, does anyone know if an all terrain or mud terrain tire would fit on 19's?
If you want off-road tires, drop back to 17's. There are a number of options available in stock and larger-than-stock sizes. There's just not enough sidewall for off-roading on the 19's and you run the risk of pinch-flatting a lot easier than with the 17's. Plus, for what you would likely pay for a set of 19" tires you could probably get 17" tires AND wheels. I know the Tire Rack has AT Italia S5 17" wheels (my personal favorites) on closeout for $119 each.
As far as I know, the Goodyear MT/R's are produced in a 19" size, but judging on what I've read here they are only available overseas.
