Hi all,

A bit of background. Bought a 2015 Touareg recently and within a couple of weeks the display screen was playing up (glitching out and the volume knob wouldn’t work). I ended up buying a genuine used replacement screen. Fitted it and took it to my local Volkswagen dealer to get the screen coded to the car. The dealer tried coding it and it didn’t work so they tried troubleshooting and was told there is an issue with the infotainment system in the glove box. Basically my radio works and my phone still connects through bluetooth but the centre display is blank.

They’re saying to replace the infotainment system in the glove box but that’s a ~$5k part. I’ve called some audio shops and they’ve told me there’s no off the shelf aftermarket replacement units and they recommended not doing it anyway. They put me onto a group that can repair the circuit/chips in the display or the infotainment but there’s no guarantees

Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know of a fix that doesn’t include replacing the glove box infotainment system?

@Moncam -- The instrument panel display/control unit (7P6919603x) is simply the interface device to the MMI3GP main unit fitted in the glovebox. It is possible that the main unit (7P6035764x) is failing, too, but that you still have Bluetooth and radio functions suggests that the main unit is NOT failed. You should have your Treg scanned with VCDS and report whether DTCs are found at Address 5F (module J794); for example:

Note that NO coding is necessary to replace the display unit -- it is not subject to component protection like the main unit and radio modules would be. --g
