Bump. No idea, but I would be extremely careful. I know it's been done by many. Post pictures if you get this accomplished.

 

If something basic like this is causing you trouble I would think you need to take it into a competent shop.


A word to the wise is sufficient

 

Does your Touareg have the RCD-550, or the RNS-850? The 850 has no conventional head unit. What you see in the dash is just a screen. Not sure about the 550.
