Looks like it possible is the Break away, thanks tassie9999
We are going back to the van dealer that had it installed.

Either the battery is dodgy or it's not being charged (dodgy wiring)
Neither would surprise us as we had to have the DC to DC charger re-wired and second battery as it "melted" due to insufficient quality connections used by the auto sparky who installed the breakaway and rear camera !! It cost 2X the original job to get it repaired !!

Lets clarify, you should have a brake controller fitted which actuates van brakes etc and should be available to the driver to operate manually if needed and THEN you may have, (mandatory in NSW) a brake away battery monitor which beeps and alerts you if the battery voltage on your brake away battery is below voltage to engage your van brakes for 20 minutes should your van should separate from towing unit.

I would be very surprised if it has anything to do with the brake away but is very easy to eliminate, just check the voltage of your little 16Ah or so battery powering your Break-away unit located in your caravan.
