I have a 2007 V6 Touareg with 3,200 mi. When we would arrive home and park in the garage and press the start/stop button to turn the engine off, the electric fan would come on for a short time. After a couple of services at the dealership (they left two cables un-plugged near the radiator to cause the engine light to appear and send a burning plastic smell to the vents because the plug was rubbing on the belt...I plugged the plugs back together and voila, no engine light)...it sounds as though the engine/sensors are trying to click or give an audible low pitched hum; however no fans kick in. -Question, do all the 2007's fans come on or does it have to obtain a certain engine temperature for it to engage to cool the motor after the stopping the ignition? My 2001 GTI still engages the fan in our garage following routine trips out. Should the electric fan cool down be checked by VW Service and will it eventually harm the engine if I let it go too long without the fans functioning? Thanks in advance!!

The engine temp has to be a specific temp for the fans to run under any circumstance. However you can get the fans to come on if you turn the A/C on while the vehicle is running regardless of the engine temp.
