So just a simple question:
would you go for the 2 zone or the 4 zone climate controle.
What are the pro's and the con's?

Depends on whether or not you carry passengers in the rear a lot. Personally, I opted for the four zone and it works great. I have compared the two side by side (my sister has a V6 with the two zone) and the four zone is much more powerful!! It cools the car down quickly and allows for more control options (different left and right fan speeds).

Pros:
Increased, personalized rear passenger comfort
Not a retro-fittable option
Resale value?

Cons:
$$$$
Loss of left rear storage compartment (my triangle is under the right rear seat)
Somewhat vulnerable and delicate rear instrument panel

We were hesitant, but appreciate it on long road trips with rear passengers.

Anyone have a three-zone? In my presumably two-zone system it seems the driver and front passenger get their choice of temperature, but the rear folks only ever get cold...

I have the 4 zone and my 9-year old son loves it. He can heat the seats and adjust the air just right. And with the override button, I can take control from the front and turn everything down when he leaves the fan going full blast.

Yes you can do all of this with the 4 zone except heat the rear seats. It should be noted that this feature is part of the cold weather package.

I have the cold-weather and the 4 zone. I love the fact you can control the settings in the rear, as I have one kid that is approaching the tinkering age and one that is too young to control it. If they aren't comfy, I can click the REAR button and adjust both sides to their statisfaction. Plus, as defective says, you can turn it down when you don't have passengers. I don't think I would have gotten the 4 zone, if it didn't have that feature.

I've read somewhere the extra compressor is in the left compartment in the boot. But are there any air intakes that never must be covered up because they need air? So you can never put put your trunk completely full. Or can you when you turn off the rear climate controle, when you need your trunk, and use just the climate controle from in front?
Can you also use the compressor from the front for the back, so it's working like the 2 zone?

thx

I have 2- zone HVAC set-up. In this configuration, the driver and passenger can set their own temperature, but THEY CAN NOT independently adjust fan speed.

It is my understanding that separate fan speed control for the passenger zone comes with the 4-zone HVAC option upgrade.

I consider the lack of separate fan speed control to be a (albeit minor) drawback in the design of the 2-zone system.
