I did a quick trip from Melbourne to Sydney and back to pick up a windscreen for my Lotus. A very comfortable 1850 km in 20 hours with it mainly being highway driving sitting on 110km/h on cruise control. The Treg is by far the best car I have ever driven for a long day trip like this.
An interesting outcome was the actual calculated fuel consumption based on tank refilling before the trip, then filling when i reach Sydney and then when I refilled on getting back to Melbourne was 7.8 L/100km which was exactly the same as the dash read out of average fuel consumption for the 1850 km trip. I have always suspected the dash read out is normally low as it integrates the short term number which has a maximum reading limit or around 40 l/100km which is easy to exceed in the city when accelerating away from lights, this seems to confirm that
There are a few hilly regions and i had a Northerly head wind when heading North and no tail wind when heading back South at night as the wind had dropped then. When on flat roads with no winds the Treg ran at 6.8 l / 100 km at 110km/h
Incidently
7.8 l/100 km = 30.2 miles / US gallon = 36.22 miles / imperial gallon
The other interesting observation is that i averaged 92.5 km/h including the suburban streets 60km/h limited when in Melbourne and Sydney and despite freeway speed limits of 100 or 110 km/h in between. I live in Germany for about 6 months of the year and find it hard to achieve that sort of average speed for a long trip despite much higher or no speed limits on the Autobahns. This is due to the number of road works and slow traffic you encounter all the time
