Hi,

it´s a problem with the brake light switch at the brake pedal.
I had the same prolem here a year ago.
It´s not s o expensive and easy to replace.
With a little experience you can do it by yourself.
Price of the switch here is 8 Euro plus Tax (19%)

Be sure it's not the rear fog light that's causing the fault.

 

We don't get that here unless you install it yourself. Not to mention he would have to have the euro switch and actually have it turned on.

The brake pedal switch is a common failure on VWs. It went out all the time in my Mk4 Jetta. The USUAL symptoms are no brake lights at all and no cruise control since its tied in. But, who knows nowadays. Easy to replace. Just make sure you dont push the plunger in until u have it mounted in the vehicle. Then it will set itself.....

 

Found out what the problem is, apparently the bulb had burnt out before and the genius who replaced it put in a single filament bulb instead of a dual filament.

 

When my lights are off mine works normal but when the lights are on my driverside brake light stays fully lit

 

Did you ever get your bizarre electrical problem resolved?
Could it be related to any work done?
