Hi there
Since like a week the V10 is acting up. The engine starts barely(long cranking) when the engine is warm. Cold start is normal so I can eliminate the Glow-plugs. Also changed the Fuel filter and its a little bit better but still more cranking than normal when hot.

Any ideas?

Hall Sender would cause this symptom, do you have any codes in the ECM address 1 or 11 using VAG-COM?

There are 2 ECM's on the V10, both are fed signal from the hall sender (or camshaft position) only 1 is fed Engine speed, or crank rotational speed

Copy pasting straight from the Touareg EDC 16 tutorial lol

Hall sender G40
The Hall sender is bolted to the cylinder head at
cylinder bank 1 below the mechanical fuel pump. It
picks up the signal from the quick start sender
wheel with which the position of the camshaft is
detected.

Signal application
With the Hall sender signal, the relation of the
camshaft to the crankshaft is picked up very
quickly when the engine is started. Together with
the signal from the engine speed sensor G28, the
system can detect which cylinder is at TDC.

Effects of signal loss
If the signal fails, the signal from the engine speed
sender G28 is used in its place. Because the
position of the camshaft and the cylinders cannot
be detected immediately, starting of the engine
could take slightly longer than normal.

No codes and when engine is cold it starts right up. Just when engine is hot it takes much longer to start it up. If it would be a sensor it would start always slow, wouldn't it?
not always. IMO, the sensor is starting to fail. When the sensor heats up, so does the internal electrical resistance, causing it to miss the crank signal.

I think it is a fuel problem, because if the engine is hot and I start it within 5 min of shutting down it starts right up. After 5 min it is giving me a hard time with lot of cranking. I am thinking about fuel vapor, how many fuel filters has the V10?

Hi
I am having exactly the same problem with my 3.0 V6 Tdi 2005.
Did you manage to find out any more info why this happens?
Would appreciate any guidance.
Thanks
Somehow it fixed itself, starts right up but now in Missouri it is freaking cold, so the car doesn't really gets that hot. It might come back in the Summer but I think it was the fuel filter i changed it and it made a significant difference.
