To all the 4Xmotion owners, I was checking the ground clearance, approach, departure angles on the latest gen(7P) Touareg and bit surprised to see that VW have appeared to offer the same ground offroad/xtra ground clearance as the T1 Touareg but approach/departure & ramp over angles in the T3 are much less??

The brochure states the T3 even with air suspension only has 27 degrees of approach & departure and only 22 on the ramp over angle.
If true this significantly less than the T1 :(
furthermore I see only a difference of two degrees in these angles compared to the steel sprung T3.
Whereas if you look at Range Rover Sport, it has the same angles as T3 when both are in standard mode but in high clearance setting the RR goes up to 33/27/31 but the Touareg in high is only 27/22/27.
Has any 4Xmotion owner checked their angles compared to brochure or a T1?

It appears to be the T3 brochure doesnt state the correct offroad angles -the angles seem to be measured at a clearance of 233mm??

This is information from the SSP469-Chassis-4wd7P:

The Touareg has the technical prerequisites for
excellent off-road capability. Short body overhangs,
ground clearance of up to 300mm, a fording depth
of up to 580mm, a climbing ability of 100% (45°) with
4XMOTION, a lateral inclination of 35 degrees, the
breakover angle and the axle articulation also make

extreme off-road usage possible.

Values for vehicles with steel suspension:

â—Ź Fording depth = 500mm
â—Ź Ground clearance = 222mm
with sports suspension = 187mm
● Breakover angle = 22°

Values for vehicles with air suspension:

â—Ź Fording depth = 580mm
â—Ź Ground clearance = 300mm
● Breakover angle = 33°
● Approach & departure angle = 33°
● Dynamic lateral inclination = 35°
● Climbing ability for 4XMotion = 45°
(The climbing ability for vehicles with transfer box is 31° (4MOTION).

Thanks Arne S! That sounds really good and puts trust back in the Touareg and the T3 specifically.
Dont know why VW have put the lesser figures in the brochures and measured the angles at 233mm?
The info you have posted is this from a brochure or technical document, are you able to upload the complete doc please. Thanks!

It is a technical document (in pdf). Not shure if I am able to upload the document, but I will try.

If it does not work, PM me your e-mail adress and I will send it to you.
