I picked up my '05 Touareg and a CD instatnly got stuck in the CD player. I was told by the dealer that you CAN NOT use coppied CD's in the unit. They agreed to cover it this time, but said next time I would have to pay. Has anyone else had this problem or do you think this was a defective unit?

That is not true, likely to be a defective unit. I played CD-R in the player all the time, and never got stuck. But, it is possible that the player won't recognize some brands of CD-R's burned by some brands of burners. Plextor or NEC + TDK discs have served me well.

Problem is that the faceplate of the radio is misaligned from the manufacturer. I understand from a tech that there is a test for that the dealer is supposed to perform before letting the truck go out the door.

Check the owners manual, in detail, for any disclaimer about not using particular types of CD's. If there is no warning about recorded or copied CD's (and I don't think there is) then have the service department explain to you why. Once they cannot explain, then have them fix it.

amazing...just got my car back from the dealer, first thing i tried was to put a CD in, after having to pretty much force the CD in, it got stuck again and won't play, and they scratched my dashboard, and left a piece hanging off. AMAZING!!!!

Cd Problems

I had the same problem, would not play copied CD's and would not play most CD's that had even the slightest imperfection. Finally got the single CD replaced last week and everything works fine in this one, and it plays everything.

Stuck CD in the single disc unit

I too have had this problem with my new Treg, except that it's production CDs that are hanging. It appears as though the actual thickness of the discs is variable enough that some stick, some do not. A friend found that by inserting the edge of another disc into the unit part way it will cause the stuck disc to eject.

When I first noticed this I though " Damn Germans, can't you allow a LITTLE less tolerance :p "

Hopefully this helps someone...

The malaligned bezel seems to make more sense to me but I'll ask next time I'm in the dealership.

I had both production and copies get stuck. There should be a bulletin re: this for 2005s - that's what the Fairfax VW told me. Mine's a 2004 and they replaced it and now works fine. The trick is to make sure a regular CD is stuck and then get over to the dealer ASAP or leave it stuck until you can get there so they can see it.
