So... Thinking I am going to be a real man and install my own hands free telephone kit. I get the OEM Kit, buy the radio puller tools, print out kukuachu's instructions and get stuck on the 'radio code.'

I remember seeing something about it when I bought my t-reg in the multitude of manuals that are too big to fit into the glove box... For the life of me now, after looking for hours, I can't find the instructions on how to set/get/change the radio code...

Anybody have some quick instructions?

thanks.

You shouldn't have to recode the radio, even if you have disconnected it completely from the car. I did mine on my new car just the other day. The car's computer holds the radio code and if it matches the radio, it doesn't require the code when you plug it all back in.

I didnt need the radio code as well, worked fine when I hooked it back in.

Could it be the code to setup the connection between the ck3000 and your bluetooth phone? That code is in the 3K manual, but by default it is "1234"

I will have to applaude my dealer for getting it right the first time! Thats interesting that they have to write it down. Seems it should be standard with the vehicle. Thanks Spock! Did that make the pre inspection list?

Just curious, when I picked up my TReg, the salesman showed me the radio card, told me to save it (separately) and I'd need it if the power was ever completely off in the vehicle (similar to having someone try to steal it---I'd need to re-input the code for the radio to work. Was he wrong?? He was pretty good on most other explanations.

Anyone know for sure?

I had a 94 Jetta with a bad alternator, went through 3 batteries before VW decided it was the alternator. Every time the battery went dead we would have to re-enter the radio code. Im not sure if it is still that way though.
