For those wishing to set their Service Reminder Intervals: go to the Applications Menu on the main panel and then select SRI and use the pull down menu.

C A V E A T:

That is how it's supposed to work. However it seems that the labels have not been loaded for the T2 as the only option (I have at least) is SERVICE RESET. I've sent a dump of the various values stored in channels 02 and 40 through 48 (this no doubt is part of the hybrid long/short coding as it hasn't quite gotten the smart I/F of the Long Code) to Uwe and a new labels file IMHO needs to be created with values filled in in order to be able to access those channels (and thus options).

Sean, can you check on your 08 if you're getting the same? I'll post as I get more info

Here is a reply I received from Uwe. Stay tuned...
Yes, we're aware that a simple Service Reset is the only service reset "job" defined for that vehicle, and it seems you've done that successfully.

Give us bit, we are researching the rest. It's possible VW has changed something with respect to the coding and SRI-related channels for the model year you have.

There is a new Beta version out, 904, which amongst other things seems to address this. I've not tested it as I just downloaded the new version. It states:

"Modified SRI Screen to allow presentation of additional Information
In addition, there is not longer a "default" Job. The user must actively select a job from the drop-down list. On many 2008 and newer cars, we found users simply running the default job (which often didn't match the way the car was programmed) and then incorrectly telling us that the SRI function didn't work. "

Hopefully it will allow us to reset the SRI to 3k or 6k intervals. I'll post more when I test.

After consulting with Uwe, the new release doesn't address the SRI. So I'll be running some tests for him and specifically channel mapping the 08 so he can compare it to the 09 and see if they've modified more stuff. Given the 255, one byte, coding there are many things that could or have been changed. We need to find where or what they've changed so we can see where that option has moved to.

I'll keep you posted...

Ran the tests on both the Beta as well as the old VAG-COM code and got nothing but ERROR and NA before it timed out on channel 31.

Forwarded that to Uwe over the weekend and as soon as I hear will let you know.

OK folks (yo, PLO231 you there???), I've figured out how to modify the SRI (at least for the T2s but it shouldn't be too radically different for earlier versions).

1) In the VAG-COM go to Instruments (17)

2) Select Adaptation (10)

3) Enter 50 for channel number

4) You will see a stored and current value; these values are in 100s of miles

5) Change in the box that says current value (i.e. 30 for 3,000 miles to say 60 for 60,000 miles). Note the STORED VALUE CANNOT BE CHANGED FOR OBVIOUS REASONS

6) You will see on your right a button that says
7) DO NOT PRESS
8 ) Press save

9) It will ask you whether to save to WSCxxxx?

10) Reply OK

and you're done

Caveat, as you are not using your SKC since I doubt anyone here has their SKC, you can't test the value from within VAG-COM as with other channels. HOWEVER you can test this new value by checking the number you previously had for service interval in miles in your MFD with the new value it will display. Since most folks will do it in 1,000 mile intervals it should be easy math.

I have not checked any values other than 60 for 6,000 miles. Thus if anyone wanted to change from 3,000 for example to 9,000 I didn't test every value. There could be a limit - if you need higher than 6k mile SRIs test using the above procedure and let us know. Thanx

I've forwarded the findings to Uwe at Ross-Tech so he can incorporate into the FAQs etc.

There was something brought about this on early Tregs and I think the resolution was made that certain sensors are not in place to fully be able to utlilize this feature. I know Aircooled and a couple others looked into it once, but it was not fully functional as it should be.

Should be easy enough to check with the above procedure I outlined. Please post your findings for:

1) Those with T1s

2) Other values GREATER than 60 (6000 mile SRIs)

Thanx

HELP!!!

Just had the T2 serviced, and the service guy (WA EURO - come to your home to service the vehicle :) ) wasn't able to reset the SRI.

I have searched the forum...tried the MFD SRI reset....nothing
Tried the "Hold the odometer reset, insert the key etc etc" - nothing
Tried VCDS - controller 17 etc...nope, doesn't find channel 50 in Controller 17.

What can I do?

It is resettable via the MFI. You don't need VCDS. I have done it on my '10 TDI here in NA.

*sigh*.....I said "tried the MFD SRI reset....nothing"

Any other ideas?
