It was 19 F out this morning here and we had to make a trip so I warmed the TDI up a little and drove slow for a few miles and she started warming up slowly. By the time I hit the hwy and 55 mph it was at the normal 200 F degrees. We got where we were going and left the car outside for about one hour and came out and turned on the heated seats. Oh I love those. I started the engine and looked at the temp and it was 190 F. Some how the motor retains the heat. I had noticed this in warmer weather but thought once the cold and wind hit it would not hold the temp. It was up to 200 before we left the parking lot. Also the Michelin Latitude ice X 2 tires feel really sure footed on the road.:-D

Nice. I also enjoy using the Rest feature when I make short stops during the day.

so how do you use the rest feature. I can't find any buttons or settings for it.
It's a hard button just below the temp display. Works year-round. In the winter it will circulate warm air from the engine. Will run for 15-min or so after vehicle is warmed up. More info in manual.

-31 f I have never been in that kind of cold. Its cold enough here and our normal for this time of year is 44 f or there about. Wow I can't even imagine what that would be like. My old friend in Manitoba used to tell me in Arizona how cold it was up there but he was drunk most of the time so I never knew if he was telling a tale or not. LOL

loooool,

-35C/-31F here...........HOLY GOOD GOD ITS COLD!!!!

I swear my '12 Lux TDI had aux. heater to deliver heat to the cabin before the engine warmed up. Was almost instantaneous. The '13 and now '14 don't seem to have this feature and takes much longer to get heat. Anyone know if the aux heat was deleted?

And I sure would like to be able to make a VCDS change to keep the heated steering wheel on across engine stops and starts!

The heated wheel staying on is BRILLIANT!!! i hope you find something out!

Woke up this morning and it is -35°C (-33°F) and -46°C (-51°F) with the wind. Luckily my garage was a toasty 10°C - but today is the first real cold day in my 2012 TDI as it sits outside at work. I've read many threads of guys starting these things down to crazy temps - so not worried - just more curious to see how it performs!

Heated Steering Wheel and Seats is a must up here!!!

I get heat within 30 seconds of a start..not HOT, but warmish. Once engine is warmed it really heats up.

Can't say I have any complaints about cold weather behavior EXCEPT for the RNS slow boot up. I woudn't care if my nav or radio were slow to boot, but the heated wheel control is on the on-screen climate menu, and waiting 45sec for the menu to boot before you can get to the heat button sux.

Geez it's almost the same here in stoon

try this

Our 2014 has no heat until the engine gets warm. Other than the seats.

turn the heating control to high....fan about 3/4. The Treg has an electric heater that kicks in and starts putting heat long before the engine ever starts putting out heat. Not mentioned anywhere in the manual ( at least on my 2011...)

Let us know.
