We have a lot of mountains and canyons surrounding Los Angeles... Willow Springs Race track is an hour and a half away... for me, if it was down to american Muscle, and a Camaro or a Mustang... I'd without hesitation go with the Camaro. Too many twisties here, it's probably the main reason german cars sell so well here in So Cal, much like the mountains and their roads in Southern Germany. Not too much of that kind of road for the boys in Detroit to R&D on in Michigan.

Still think you should test drive the CLA or a used S4 for ZL1 money. As for the ZL1, it's a monster even on track. Had a really tough time passing one at the track late last year. That thing hauls!

I didn't say ZL1, I said SS with ZL1 goodies on it ;), minus the supercharger and magnetic ride suspension.

Forget the Audi, it bores me on look alone.

The CLA on the other hand definitely falls into the avand garde category of new automobiles, but I would only ever want the AMG version, and that won't be sold here until spring 2014, unless my quick 5 min search was a bad source.

If true, I ain't waiting a full year yet based on speculation.

Well Whipple does make a nice supercharger kit for the 6.0...its bigtime less expensive than going the factory supercharged route. Just planting a seed for you :)

Hmm, seed eh? What we got here..."the only twin-screw that is 50 states emissions legal",,,I'm reading pump gas 91AKI here, aha..and 680HP...not tooooo shabby at all :).....ok now for pricing.....

is it just me or they don't post pricing on their website?

A whipple setup is around 6K. Its a bargain. Extremely high quality parts and well supported.

That really is a bargain when you think about it! After all is said and done, you are essentially stepping into a brand new, close to 700HP sports car, that cost at, or under $55000 total cost. Not bad at all!!

Now that's what I call a SLEEPER!

Yep...exactly. The power per dollar ratio is just unbeatable!

Not to mention the spectacular sound a whipple makes as it spools up. You can hear it even over wide open exhausts.

I agree T-reguan, my Treg just went up for sale today. Supercharged Hybrid is my next purchase.

I don't want a performance car that hasn't got any sound when accelerating. Even the diesel sound will do, but not the whistle and tire sound only..

I do agree the sound of a super charger is hard to beat. While not in the same league as the Hennesey, I owned a 91 T-bird SC with a roots blower and loved the sound of that thing every time I got on it. What made it more fun was I ordered it with a 5spd tranny. I miss that car and had a lot of fun in it for what it was. The most fun was it was a dark blue color almost like the unmarked Crown Vics and I had a great time pulling up quickly behind people on the highway and they thought I was an unmarked. :)

I have no idea why - but everytime you mention that Tbird SC I always pictured a white one...maybe because a lot of the ones I did see were in white. Cool car in its day, I haven't seen one in a loooong time though.

VWdude in few days in his Camaro, somewhere in Canada :D
