If they are broken, replace the arms before replacing the actuators. I replaced mine with billet arms from gruvenparts.com. Here's a quick pic:

Welcome.

Using the return key a bit more and starting new sentences with a capital letter will make your posts easier to read and comment upon otherwise many people will simply ignore them.

If you haven't found it, here's the UK site: www.mytreg.com

Quite a few folk have used the Gruven parts arms and saved themselves a lot of money. As I understand it the warning light will eventually go out after you have replaced the arms and the electronics have cycled a few times.

If you are interested in doing your own work, get VCDS from Ross-Tech.

Hi there HIRaching I have check the linkage they both look ok the right hand side ( drivers sides) I cant move and when engine turn of seems. To drop down in rest position but passenger side doesn't seem to move and I can move it by hand without resistance so I'm thinking this could be the problem bringing the engine management light on . What do the swirl flaps do ?

To bad for Buckle but it is a different problem
The V6 TDI has a fairly common problem with the intake manifold flap motors/arms.
I seems the arm wears being only plastic and the motor moves past its reference point and the fault comes up.
I just had the same issue on a friends V6 but his arm had come off completly it was worn that bad.
Seems like you cannot change the arm it self but need the whole manifold( about $600 USD) as new seperate parts seem not available for purchase.
On the good side it does not seem to affect the engine to much.
For and insight to how the system works look at Page 10 of the PDF attached and the parts breakdown.

Hi Dragline - You had me going back through the posts and threads too as I was about to apologise for misleading Buckle, but it does appear from the thread I posted that you can replace the arms on the V6 Tdi.

As you have just posted!!
