Interesting how people tastes vary, because I love the interior of the 2012-13 Cayenne, while the 2012- 2013 Toaureg interior puts me to zzzzzzzz in comparison, although it is elegant I must say.
I have to say I love the interior of my egg. It may be zzzzzzz, but I just wanna drive. Its far better than the platinum f150 or crosstour I've previously owned. I drove a Cayenne but it did 0 for me from the cabin.

I'm talking outside shapes, must say I haven't compared inside.

My point of the thread was the V8TDI. The stupid thing here in Australia is the V8TDI is available with the Cayenne and the Q7. The Treg is not a poor cousin to either and it makes no sense why VW would omit the V8TDI from one of the three from the same stable.
If I lived in Aus I'd be buying up every used R50 I could get my hands on!

Didn't the V10 and R50 sell well over there? surprised there is no Treg V8 TDI.

Good god...I'd like to be in even half that category....
Lots of millionaires out there are driving very average and boring cars...lots of dentists and surgeons making 3x-10x 160K who are driving around in 50K Touaregs. A "target" you will often see is that the vehicle you buy should be roughly 4 months income...frugal VW buyers that follow that are right in that 160K income bracket.

Interesting about the V8 in the Cayenne. I am in Australia, and actually sat down with the Porsche options list and optioned the V6 TDI Cayenne to the spec of my new Touareg 180TDI, which has every option except 4xMotion.

The Cayenne cost $206,000, the drive away price of my Touareg $94,600.00. Both the same spec. MMMM Did not take me long to decide on the Touareg.

About the interior, the Cayenne has a separate button for everything in the car, the Touareg has everything via the Touch Screen, a much better option when 90% of the buttons are never used.

I am more than happy with the Touareg, the Air Suspension makes a huge difference over the standard Springs, and the Adaptive Cruise control with auto braking is just amazing, especially in Peak Hour Traffic.

I parked the Touareg today next to a new Cayenne and ML Merc today at the yacht club, and it was funny to see both teh Cayenne and Merc Owners both spending some time look at the Touareg when they returned to their respective car.

All I can say the Touareg with all options is a great car, and is a bargain when compared to the Cayenne, ML Merc, or Range Rover

Top end Range Rovers are now silly money for silly people!

There's price point entry and brand appeal (aka snobbery). VW are seen as pov with the likes of the other German marques......but it's the brand thing that gets in the way of value. The V8TDI would sell over here on value. It's got me stuffed why VAG do not option it as with Porsche and Audi. It's got to do with some kind of ploy VAG have here with the brand mix. The FSI is getting dumped on account of the V6TDI being better value...the V10 is dead and all VW can still offer is a V6TDI, that by other standards is now mediocre, still good, but lagging in output. MB have the ML AMG, BMW the X in M series and Porsche just do it no matter what. VW have no top line/R line Treg and a V8TDI would do it to replace the R50. Competition is always a good thing........sit back and see how it unfolds.

Look at this when value and "I just want it" connect:

Look at the price, forget it's petrol and then compare it to everything else. Of course Jeep will sell them here. It has animal appeal, and for some, the price and the appeal are a winner; there rest is secondary. Jeep sell and make money - end of story.
