I came by Tuesday for a yogurt. I think that was you behind the counter, but I wasn't sure. It was about 5:30, and you were heading out the door.

Also live in DFW area... any get together for fellows Touareg owners... any recommendation for trails...I would like to take my Touareg the coming day to a trail since it will be snowing tomorrow in DFW area to test it with snow..
Any thoughts?

I am new to the T-Reg forums. Been a VW guy the last 10 years. My wife and I are looking to buy a Touareg, probably a 2006 V6 or V8 depending on price, etc... We're up in the Frisco area.

I'm trying to figure out if a 2005 would be acceptable. Everyone I've talked to (including a VW employee) has mentioned that the 2004's are crap. They suggested I go with 06+ but I am having a hard time finding any. I also want to make sure I grab a warranty. Do you guys know if the CPO warranty can be purchased from say, Boardwalk even if I buy the car at a non VW dealer? Approx cost too?

Anyways, I hope to have a Touareg soon and until then, I will be staring at your's from my Rabbit and Jetta.

I would also suggest looking at an 07 or newer, especially if you are interested in the V6. They upgraded the V6 in 07 to the 3.6L (vs the 3.2L in 04-06) I have driven both and the power is much more respectable in the 3.6. You can get much more options in the V8 and some higher maintenance costs as well. You should be able to get a warranty from Boardwalk or any other VW dealer. There is a guy on here that several people have purchased warranties from and gotten good deals. There should be some nice 08's getting ready to come off lease as well.

Hello. Im also in frisco. I picked up my treg from rusty wallis. I would also recommend getting 07 and up. Or even 08 if you want one of the face lifted versions.

That warranty guys name is chris from a dealership in PA. ... Forgot what his forum name is..

I would love an 07 or 08 but they seem to be a bit out of my price range currently. And who knows, depending on my trade in, an 06 may be too much. We're going to hit some dealers this weekend.

So I can take any VW to a dealership and pay to have it CPO for the 2yr/24000 mile warranty? My jetta came CPO and it has saved me a few bucks.

In any event, thanks for the info, I'll take any and all info you guys have. I need to invest in a VAG COM too.

I don't think you can pay to have it CPO'd but you can buy an extended warranty. Almost the same but not quite.

I'm another Dallasite (for now). Cheers!

What would y'all say about getting our Touaregs together and driving up to the LBJ Grasslands just North of Decatur. On this page, click the map of LBJ Grasslands:
National Forests and Grasslands in Texas- Maps

It's got semi-paved roads, great scenery, lakes, etc... I've been up there before doing some GeoCaching, so we could do some of that, and there's some good hiking trails at some points.

I'll suggest Saturday, Sept 22, as the date. We could meet at the gas station on the NorthEast corner of Hwy 360 and Trinity Blvd at 8:00 am and drive up Hwy 114 to the grasslands.

Who's in?

Well in 3 weeks, nobody responded. So I guess the excursion is off.
