Hi All,
I have another question...
If baterry dies due to a faulty radio +? KESSY and you recharge it too frequently, like 4 times a weeks for a couple of months, will it going to affect the battery life?
I mean since it discharged too many times, can we consider it as a dead battery or will it keep holding voltage on it?

ANother question, for example
after a 30 min drive, i park the car and but something from glocery store and come back after 10 min and i could see battery is dead or it could work properly. 50-50 chace after the KESSY replaced.

Is there a possiblity that the dealer removed some battery cable during the KESSY replacement and forgot to tighten it? Is there a procedure that i can check what they did? Because it was not happening before the KESSY repacement.

and also can someone give an idea of the battery charging process during a regular drive?
When does alternator start charging the battery? For how long etc.
If battery get dead too many times, does it affect the battery life? The battery on my Treg is probably dead for around 100 times so will it affect that it doesnt hold the charge?

If it's the original battery on an 04, you're way past due for a new one. But checking the cable might not be a bad idea as well as the recall concerning the alternator to battery cable that drains the battery.

No No, i changed the battery last year,
My concern is my commute to work is less than 1 mile everyday.

So is there a probability that the battery is not being charged?
Almost certainly and expecially so if you have the lights and the heater and any other accessories on.

Try taking a longer, 5 mile route to work and the same home again and see what happens - it's nice driving the Touareg so the distance shouldn't be a problem!

Update on the thread, Now even though i run the car for 2 hours, the battery doesnt get charged, I removed the battery and charged it at Napa and they check the battery again and it was still good. So most probably i could have a possible alternator/ alternator cable problem.
Do you know whether when alternator start charging battery? Immidietaly or after some RPM or after some speed?
My actuator arm gets broken 2 days ago and i will be going to dealer today. Thnks to extended warrany

The alternator starts recharging immediately.

Look at the voltmeter - it should be a bit over 14 volts - even 14.5 - immediately after starting the car car before settling back to 14V.

If you have an extended warranty then isn't it up to the dealer/warranty company to sort rather than you having to worry about it?

Five miles or so should see it recharged - maybe a bit longer if all the electrics are on on a dark cold day.

so what i did is when the engine is running and the driver seat is in battery change mode :D i measured with voltmeter and i see some jumps at voltage, even thought the cluster shows 14. Anyways, i will talk to dealer about the previous alternator cable TSB issue.

Another question
if the TSB TB 27-05-03 which is the alternator -battery cable is not performed on my vehicle, does the dealer need to complete the job for free or will warranty cover it? Or an arm and a leg before christmas :(

Update: My Actuator arms are changed and we checked about the TSB and TSB is not performed. THe battery was dead at the dealer again. THey will check the cable for the voltage drop and will see the results tomorrow.

I got my car yesterday. Cranking seems more powerfull now but when i crank to run the engine, i see a very fast flick on MFD (the MDF was all black and after a second or two it was comming back) and it cranks way more powerful then before.
It is very early to make initial comments but that is the main difference that i found for the last 1 day. I will update thread if i found anything more.

It was a very nice 6000 miles trip for 20 days with my family.

From Redmond to YellowStone => Grand Tetons => Arces => Vegas =>Grand Canyon => Vegas =>DeathValley=>SanDiego=>LA=>Sequia&Kings=>Yosemite=>BayArea=>RedWoods=>Portland=>Redmond

And some other small spots that has touristical atractions.

It was an amazing trouble free trip :)

I've been dealing with this issue for over a year now, and thought I had it solved, but to no avail. I read the Damned Leaves article and took my 2004, V8 with 96,700 miles on it in to the dealer and he unloaded leaves and about 2 gallons of water. He said the electronics were saturated. Now about 10 days later its dead again. Really need a solution.
