So gentleman and ladies, I have a question. I recently did my 60K maintenance, which went fine, however there are a couple of things on the circular that I'm not sure what to do with.

Door straps - lubricate
sunroof frame - clean and lubricate

Are the door straps the plastic pieces that pull out of the door when you open the door? What would one use, some sort of lithium grease on them? and the same question about the sunroof frame.

Thanks.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks.

Door straps are the door hinges and yes, keep the sun roof checked--especially the drains--my drain tube on passenger side blew out and leaked into the electronics--$1200 to fix all. VW would not cover this problem. Toureg--buy it once, pay for it twice. : ) (04 v6 3.2)

The door strap stops the door opening beyond its intended arc and is on the leading edge of the door where the hinges are.

For clarity it is a kind of vertical spring on the lower part of the bottom door hinge on all four doors and has, I think, 3 positions or detents.

If you look at the bottom hinge as you open and close the door you will soon see it at work.

Ok..Got that and lubed it up....As a note, my door handles moved a little rougher than they used to be, so I shot some white lithium grease on the plastic piece that pulls out when you open the handle, and they are much smoother now also. Now back to the sunroof. Is there anything special I need to do? It sounds dumb, but I don't know what to do with it for the recommended maintenance. I opened it up all the way and the tracks have grease on them so they look good. As far as cleaning it, where are these drains? Are they the small holes inside the sunroof frame near the front of the frame? If so mine are clean as a whistle up top.

Do I not worry about it if they are clean up there?

The drains block further down.

There's a thread on here somewhere with pix:
