The hankooks are amazing for the money. At my store I can never keep them in stock. BTW thanks for supporting Discount Tire (I run the 1st store in the company in Ann Arbor, MI.)

I believe most of the atm's are actually built in the USA. That may be for just US sales but the last 5 sets I checked on the sidewall for customers and they said "built in USA"
You're welcome for the support! Just wish there was a Discount Tire nearby to do the install too.

I checked my ATM's and they say "Made in Korea." So not sure which if any model/size is made stateside. :?:

Wife just gave me the OK to order a set for the spare 18 Manhattans I scored recently. 265/60-18

Local DiscountTire matched DiscountTireDirect price including taxes (dropped price below Direct to compensate for added tax).

I wish there were stores in New York also. I'm sure it's a matter of time before were out there. Once they give notice that they are going to build out there I'll be 1st in line to go if it's anywhere near L.I. Our favorite vacation spot is Montauk and we go there multiple times a year.

As others have said, you'll be amazed at how good the RF10 is for the money.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your Treg when they're on (especially offroad ones).

Hope so!

Montauk is great, and hasn't been spoiled (yet) by the summer Hamptons crowd. Let me know if you want to do some beach driving along the north side when you're back out there. I have an outer beach permit for the county beaches.

IMO the past 5 years have changed Montauk a lot. Its gotten so crazy that we have resorted to going off peak times. We tend to go in early to mid September. This year we are going in August with our newborn to continue our tradition. My mother in law has been going to Montauk since she was a child.

I will let you know when we get closer to going then we can do some beach driving. Although at that time I will have my 20" wheels on it.

Now I'm really pissed! My 18" Dynapro's cost me AUD$285 fitted and balanced (each), and I got them cheap! Given that our $'s on near parity with the USD, we're getting ripped off down here....sucks! Why are we paying 2x the price for our Tregs and tyres than the US?
Holy cow, I just got 4 fitted, balanced etc on the weekend and paid $260 NZD ea. This is for 265/60/18's

P.S. Love the tyres so far!

I haven't been out there in high season since the 90's. Learned long ago the best time to go was off season. A few weeks after Labor Day can be awesome. You can still swim/surf/wakeboard w/o any neoprene, but most of the crowds are gone. Colder weather is great too for mountain biking.

No worries about the 20's. Without a season permit, I don't think your rig will be touching sand. (At least not on the county beaches.) But if I'm around, I'd be happy to take y'all for a spin. ;)

After reading this and a few other threads, I ended up going with these, in the 265/60/18s. Loving them so far. I can't believe how quiet they are, considering how aggressive they look.

Was there supposed to be a link in the last post?

What are "these"?

Sounds like Dynapro AT/M's.(?)..........just a brilliant all-road A/T on 18's

Yeah, sorry I thought that the DynaPro's were what the whole thread was about. Can't wait to get some mud on them, there is a lot starting to show up with the rain finally melting this snow. EVERY person at work that walks by the Touareg says, woah, new tires huh?

Now for some wheel flares? They keep the crap off flung up from the side lugs. There's a thread on here about them. Cheap! Can DIY with some nouse. Oh yeah, and a bash plate (also another thread - you can PM ENGINEer for one). Go dirty that Treg some more!

With up to 10" of rain on Long Is. today, the Hankooks got a real hydroplaning test on area roads. Maybe it was the Treg's weight, but the rig never wavered in tracking or braking. Even when hitting 6" of standing water at 30-40 mph. Best money I've ever spent on tires! Bow Down

I 2nd thatBow Down You have to buy 'em to know what we already know as a great all-round tyre. I fitted mine on fourm recommendation (US thread last year) and recommend them to all Aussie owners.

Hey guys I have a question...I am looking at getting the Hankooks for my next set of tires, which may be before winter in the way the cheap Dunlops seem to be wearing that were on my Treg when I bought it (They were new 13K ago and look to be well over half gone). I am looking at 255/65/18 on my 05 V8. I know from reading hours on here that those will fit, but I want to get a full size spare and am not sure what wheel I have? It is the same one that is on elRey's Treg a few posts above.

Is that the Manhattan you all refer to or something different?

Thanks.
