What Jerry Cans did you guys use? Metal or plastic? Did anyone use the willow or the black fuel safe (former Reehm)? anyone an opinion on the above mentioned?
Poly tanks seem to be the go most places I look. I use them in my boat for top up's. Most boat aux tanks are poly. Won't corrode, tough, cheaper to produce etc. I can't recall the last time I saw a metal can for sale.

Same as Werner. Australian design Willow 2 x 20 litre and 2 x 10ltr mounted on the roof rack.

The lot has done completed many trips outback and have never lost a drop of Diesel. Properly secured they should provide a long service life.

I purchased a double jerry can holder from ARB switch was mounted on the Rino roof rack. Both did not budge a mmafter completing 5800km.

Regards

Gerald

When I was shopping for jerries (here in WA), there were more metal's for sale than plastics. Also, the guys with caravans and trailors all (well, most you see) have metal jerries mounted on their frames.
PS: On another matter, while you are on forum, Gerald, my Treg does not have that grommet in right rear compartment for coax!

ok thanks. I have seen metal and plastic, metalls were a lot more expensive. I guess I go with willows then. Any difference between the yellow and red other than that they recommend yellow for diesel and red for petrol? (maybe stupid but my favorite colour is yellow, but I have petrol engine)

I better go to bed now before I ramble on in every thread here...

been using the red plastic ones for diesel now, bought them when I had the petrol Touareg. I believe the color difference has no technical difference. so far no leakage or smell despite some very rattling, bumpy rides....

Red........red, you'll go faster! Really!

Curious. Who had what tyres fitted? Did anyone do the trip on stock tyres?

all had ATR's except one touareg which had goodyear MTR's. Pirelli Scorpion and Conti Cross contact were the choice in all terrain.
HT's have no place on this trek as some sections are pretty rocky

Singh, I was (not) surprised at the amount of rubber taken off the tyres after 7500km. Remember when I said I would probably do half of the km's that you would on the new Conti's? I think I could divide your estimate by 4 and still be happy! I will do a depth-gauge next weekend and if you could do the same it would be an interesting comparison. As said on this thread before, the Treg automatically lowered itself on most of the way home on "cruising speed" - so I can't expect too much of the rubber, could I? Also, averaging under 15L/100Km with above stats -I'm happy! :D

Okay Werner, I'll do the same and report against the new fifth spare. Not much seem to have come off the tyres in the 5000kms on road so far.
I'm quite happy with these so far, although they arent as silent as the Scorpions but then for a 50/50 tyre they serve quite well in wet, dry, on & offroad.

video of the Touareg going up the Big Red

my light foot when offroad saw me reversing back and pushing the pedal a bit on some dunes, inc the big red.
But with correct tyre pressure, esp off & bit of a push of the pedal this is how it was....

Singh, great drive and great video by Pete! It is still just not "the real thing" by watching it on video or being there and doing it. I felt like repacking the car and going back there a 100 times since our return!

I have a similar clip but with a black V10 tearing uphill, I dont want to make it public without permission ofcourse.
Yes, a great trip indeed Werner......hopefully we'll have more to cherish!

You can gladly post any pics of black (brown) V10!

nice video singh, can you post it without the muzak?

thanks Matthew, will have to upload the darn thing again.
Meanwhile enjoy this ......the black uh. brown v10 crossing the Eyre creek...

Great vid Singh. Made me pretty envious. Looks like a lot of fun was had. Well done to all the Treggers who made the trip. It lets the "real" 4WDers know there's some competition out there.

Cheers

Agree 100% There needs to be more images by owners and especially more video of Tregs in Australia getting down and getting dirty. Youtube....watch this space. It's a pity that the VGA white shirter's don't sponsor a few trials and get some more press on their only real 4WD; it's not just an SUV fellas. Maybe they don't want to get their shoes dirty?

Received pics from Liquid99 - great photography! Could we get someone from group (Les, Peter or "the photography girl") to put a CD together of all the best photo's once we have all shared them? Even if it only happens a few months from now, it would be great. Any volunteers?
