Just had my 7P's Rear Left Wheel Speed Sensor fail.

They certainly make for an interesting array of instant dash errors for a good "pre-research freak-out" (ESC/ABS failure, Ride Height failure, Parking Brake failure, Bend Lighting failure, Workshop warning ... ) :oops:

So my question is there a preferred replacement brand to go for ? Is Bosch ok ?

From my experience, don't cheap out and use no-name parts for anything, electrical or mechanical.

Either use genuine, OEM or well-known brands such as Bosch like you mentioned

I have a completely different view on this. I think this is an easy part to replace. Go to a junk yard and get one. The same sensor is used on a variety of cars and every car has four of them. if you don't want the hassle of going to the junk yard, in this case i would buy the cheapest sensor you can find since it is so easy to replace and is low jeopardy. look on ebay and then decide if it is worth your time to pull one at the junk yard.

This recommendation is just for this sensor. A hall sensor is an extremely simple and reliable sensor. It only outputs a high or low pulse.

Funny you posted this as I just scanned mine after having the same symptoms as you. Go figure. Rear Left wheel speed sensor mechanical failure. I would have cleared codes to see if it comes back but VCDS decided its going to give me an communication error as well. It wouldn't let me clear them. I had wondered if was just a one off error. Might just go ahead and buy one to have handy. Hopefully it's easy to replace. I tend to like going with a brand name as well..but maybe this is one you could save on without worry. Hard to tell.

Just closing off this thread, post the successful replacement of the rear left speed/abs sensor.

The brand I went with was a "Vemo" ... $ 55.00 from this supplier --> https://runautoparts.com.au/vemo-front-abs-sensor-v10-72-1316

The genuine VW part was $ 343.20 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It's a super easy job of approx 60mins ... so DIY it, don't pay for it to get done.

Car jacked, wheel off, calliper off (two bolts), sensor off (one bolt), re-assembled, clear faults, drive, re-scan ... perfect.

I used this video as the guide (just for the calliper and sensor location and removal info) ....

Best of luck out there, Legends (y)
