Yes, all of them - four parts.
@Lysy and @DrGER ,

Great news: it works!
Image

Specifically, I updated the four LIT folders and the .pkg file, but I did not update the signature file (.sig). Should I update the signature as well?

So, 6.16 POI now works on 6.24.0 map. Thank you both very much for the support!

For educational purposes, I am interested to learn the reason 6.24.0 POI would not work on the map. Is it just because the online NAV and the 6.24.0 does not contain any offline POIs? What if we trick the system into thinking we have the online feature turned on (maybe switch the NAV online on under Green Menu)?

Well, You've spotted my mistake. And I didn't get it at the first time. I assumed automaticaly that fix was made from working version. It wasn't. So many things on my HDD, need to clean up...

Thank You for Your help. Thank You for Your efforts.

LIT databases from 6.24.0 are from Audi. They contain instead of VW dealers category Audi ones. The header of the file looks different and RNS850 doesn't accept it. I tried to extract it, but with no luck. It's not an SQL Lite 3 database which is very common for those.

Once again my congratulations...

Signature You shouldn't click.

Hello All!

I came across this thread in researching a map upgrade for my (wife's actually) 2016 Touareg. We are at HN+_US_VW_P0737 and 7P6060884B NAR 6.12.2. It looks like some fixes are being made for the 6.24.0 maps, and I can be a tester when the fixes are complete. I don't have the green screen enabled on Touareg, but I have VCDS.

I also have a 2015 Q7 with green screen enabled, have done a 2021 map upgrade on that, and have purchased a 2024 map upgrade (but haven't done it yet), so I have some experience with the map upgrades. For what it is worth, the Audi guys highly recommend deleting the nav database before doing the map updates.

Thanks!

You don't need to delete NAV partition if You're using original Audi maps on Audi car. Script is deleting every updated directory. Clearing NAV files is needed while Your NAV is corrupted and reviving is not working. The RNS850 US maps with fixed POI will be soon available. There's no need to install Green Menu or testing anything right now to make them work. What's essential is to use User defined mode. You have realtively fresh firmware so don't plan to upgrade it, because there's no newer version available.

I did not phrase that well...I bought the map upgrades in 2021 and 2024. The latest version I have is 6.24.0, which I believe is the one you are working with.
I wanted to provide some clarification: VW has not released a new map update for North America. There are counterfeit "VW V12 maps" being sold, but these are actually derived from Lysy's work. I hope this clears up any confusion.

The complete package - 6.24.0 maps with POI from 6.16.2 (honestly speaking they are 6.16.1) is uploaded - link is in the first post... Anyone who will make a successful complete upgrade please share a feedback how it works.

I think my job is over.

@Gerauot2 -- That is a good question. The Gracenote database installed in production is not registered with the REM Update process as a separate "device" that can be updated. It's easy enough to replace the Gracenote database installed on the HDD when the HDD is out of the main unit -- other people who replaced their MMI3G HDDs have done this. But it shouldn't be too difficult to write a metainfo2.txt file to use the REM Update process to replace the production Gracenote database with a newer version. I have the source files for version 6890 from 2016/2017 posted here:
A quick web search suggests that some later A8 models with MMI3GP have version 9040 installed; if I can find a main unit from one of these, this would be an interesting project to make a proper updater package. --g
