The complete package - 6.24.0 maps with POI from 6.16.2 (honestly speaking they are 6.16.1) is uploaded - link is in the first post... Anyone who will make a successful complete upgrade please share a feedback how it works.

I think my job is over.
@Lysy I wanted to say thank you for all your work! I'm a new owner of a 2016 Touareg, and wanted to update maps! It took me more time than I'd like to admit (running Mac with Parrells). One question though... Do I need to upload POI's now, or are they included in the main upload? Thanks again!

Old POI are included and working in the package listed in the first post. The old version of maps, with newer POI but not searchable was deleted.

I know it might sound a bit confusing; the first link is a way to go.

I had done your map update about a year ago when I got my treg. I have now also updated the POI's and it all works properly. Thank you very much for all your efforts 👍🏼.

@Turfguy10 -- Can you post a picture of the Engineering screen of your RNS850 ? I'm curious what software version number goes with P0737. Thanks for your help with this. --g

Is there anyway to get Google Earth to work again? I've tried to do some researching, and I know there is a script needed, but how does the 4G/wifi work?

Thanks!

You can't pair WLAN with RNS to obtain an internet connection. In order to have 4G You need to buy an AMI -> USB interface, then USB to Ethernet (from D-LInk), then a router with 4G modem/simcard and connect adapter with router. Then You need to apply a script via Green Menu to instal fair mode and setup routers WAN internet access... And then having working internet connection, You must buy a script for Google Earth.

Look over here: https://www.a5oc.com/posts/1628934/

The main unit of your RNS850 system is a variant of the Harman-Becker MMI3GP main unit used primarily in Audi models. If you aren't using the AMI port in the glovebox routinely, adding the USB port to the rear of the main unit directly is a better approach, IMO, with an adapter harness like this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832774473415.html (or build you own from spare parts).

Once you have mobile internet provisioned to the main unit, access to Google Earth data can be added HERE. I used this solution from early 2021 until we sold our '14 A4Q with MMI3GP earlier this year, and it worked well, mostly. --g

@Lysy and @DrGER , you guys rock, had my Treg for 2 years now and was told by previous owner that I had to replace my bluetooth module, was even wondering if I did have one installed, and that update fixed it all.
Can't wait to see the map update results.

Thank you very much guys!!!

@Lysy and @DrGER thank you for all your work on this. On my 2012 Touareg I've upgraded from the factory firmware (sw0319) to K0711/sw0706 and applied the map update sans nav DB update (ran in Standard instead of user-defined). Updated GUI looks great, but I wanted to confirm before updating the nav and POI DB's that running update in User Defined mode and then subsequently the activation scripts will be fine or if there are other steps that need to be taken prior to attempting the entire DB update (Delete nav partition etc). I have VCDS/green menu access and decent Linux skills if needed. Also let me know if you'd like any additional info or screenshots from my system.

I'll be mirroring the FW and Nav DB packages on Google Drive and posting links in the main thread as well as I haven't seen anyone share an alternate download for the VW 6.24.0 Maps with 6.16.2 POI.rar file etc.

My bet is You've updated only the MapStyles, means You have only newer graphics, not the maps. How long did it take to make Standard update?

Yep, Standard update took around 10 mins. Wanted to wait until it's a bit warmer out for the 2 hour maps/poi update, but it's not super important to me. Wanted the new graphics more than anything. In-town navigation is done mostly on my phone, and I use the RNS850 nav mainly for longer trips as a visual aid and offline backup, and for offroading tracks/waypoints. Saw in earlier posts there were some struggles with not running the full update initially, so I wanted to make sure I don't bork the NAV before going forward with the full User Defined map DB / POI update.

Definitely Your maps are not up to date. Log shows the same. If You'll now try to install maps without deleting old files Your NAV will stop work.

You need to:
1. Install Green Menu
2. Delete NAV partition
3. Install my maps in User defined mode ticking everything available to Y.

@mondofrattale -- My MM3G Info reporting script shows that your main unit still has the original navdb installed on the HDD. When your main unit is unpatched and has the original Harman-Becker navdb activation process running, Standard update mode should "just work" with the validated metainfo2.txt release file. User-defined update mode is needed when (1) vdev-logvolmgr is terminated early due to application of the navdb unblocker patch or (2) the metainfo2.txt file is not validated (i.e., file CRC checksum is ignored).

Do not patch your system to unblock the navdb until after the new navdb is installed and the system blocks access to the Map view (since you won't have a proper FSC file for the installed navdb). This generally assures that the new acios_db.ini file is created properly. --g

@DrGER thanks for the details. I installed the new navdb yesterday and after confirming versions this morning, ran the unblock script. It appears to have worked flawlessly, new roads and POI search works. I had to drive around the block to get the GPS to re-orient itself, but after that everything is working great. Logs from the patch and info script attached. I'll hook up VCDS today and resolve any lingering codes. Thanks again to @Lysy and everyone who helped with this!
