Awesome info/clarification.
Does either one read correctly when installed?

Have you measured them by any chance ? A few of us in Australia are interested in finding one that fit our 7p v8 tdi’s , think we need something around 490mm from the end to the tube seated position

From the base of the pull ring the approximate measurement is:
- AM measures 20-5/16" (~515.9mm)

I just measured the AA and it is 558mm from bottom of pull ring to the tip.

Mine reads just as the RNS does, so something is messed up in your scenario.
Just reporting what it showed yesterday. Today I added some oil, drove around a while, let it settle a while and now it seems to be more accurate. Display shows 1 bar short of Max and oil on stick appears to be at the top of the hashed area.

I don't have the AA handy right now, but you could get a ballpark idea based on the plastic portion being 1-3/16" (~30.1mm) that it would be ~545mm
Thanks for the reply , it looks like AM would be close as well for the V8 tdi as well , I’ll have to source one at some point to try out .
Cheers

These "A" dipsticks won't work for you kesa, too long.
Below is what I've worked out we need for the CKDA V8.
Waiting to hear how "rgh0" went with the one he ordered, seems to be the one and we should know soon... "ordered one of the dipsticks from Lithuania part number 059115611BN."

If you're looking for a v8 dipstick, why would you try to repurpose a v6 dipstick?

Why not search up what the v8 TDIs use in Europe, using something like 7zap, or other forums?

@PRY4SNO yes, have done all that and ended up with the wrong stick, not as simple as it seems/should to be.

I'm just trying to stop others falling into the same mistake as I have, especially kesa32 in this instance based on his post above.
Hopefully we will have confirmation soon of the correct length/part that fits our engines.

Fair play, Tony. It didn't make sense to be worrying about a v6 dipstick for a v8, but there's always a chance these are modular parts (knowing how VAG operates) across platforms.

Good luck, hopefully this thread salts away any future confusion for those who follow.

Still waiting for my 059115611BN dip stick which supposedly is correct for the V8 TDI to arrive from Europe to see if thats the correct part number for my V8 TDI Treg. What i dont know is whether VW used the same length dip stick tube on V8s without a dip stick as they did with ones that had it.?

Hopefully I will get it in the next week or so

Thanks Tony , yes l thought it might be too long , l was just going to try one out if l could’ve found a cheap one .
I’m guessing you guys are right that our tube might be some random size , who knows , hopefully rghO has some luck ( fingers crossed )
Cheers Ken
