I wouldn't assume it, I would carefully compare the section width and the recommended rim width range with the actual width of your rim. Are the 19's 9" wide? I don't recall. I do know the 18" rims are narrower than the 19" rims and the 18 takes the 255x55 so I would guess that 255 is too narrow, ideally, for the 19 rim.

You could also go up in size to something just a little taller which wouldn't hurt and you have plenty of room to do so.

It would be off the about 3/10s of an inch meaning that at 55 mph on the 275s I would be at 54.7 mph on the 255s. The only caveat is that IF something should go wrong with the drivetrain would VW nix the warranty? Am checking...

No, the diameter isn't what I am talking about, nor does it really matter much. The width does matter for handling and safety. You need to make sure the tire and rim are matched well in terms of the width.

The guy at MK was only concerned about warranty issues. The rest he said would be OK.
Price per tire is $203. He's checking on shipping. But even at 60 bucks per I'm still ahead than buying here for 360 per tire.

For 255 59/R19 WG2 Nokians:

Shipping was $110 per tire UPS ground, tire price was $203. Still 300 bucks cheaper than buying them here. Tires from MK Tires in NY. This will save me having winter and summer tires. Now let's see how long they last...

So I saved you $300 by naming MKTire ? You are welcome! ;) Good luck

Which ones did you get? There is no such thing as a "WG2" - They have WRG2 or WR and WR2 both in "suv" version.

WR is more of an all-around tread design whereas WRG2 is obviously more performance designed with an asymmetric tread and aggressive pattern.

Discount Tire Direct has tons of tires for our Touareg as I have seen them personally at their warehouse here in Phoenix. I was gonna buy a set of Nokian Hakkapelittas (BEST TIRE ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH FOR SNOW AND ANY OTHER TERRAIN) in Salt Lake City for 800 out the door. Tire is normally like 3xx a piece...

That's great. Where you live it will easily be an all year tire choice and I think you may even notice the grip.
