I had some recommendations on alignment elsewhere in this forum and I gave it to them. They aligned it. Look in the running gear forum and you should find recommendations. Pulling to the right seems to be a common problem.

My Alignment Spec Printout Sheet From VW Dealer: Not Too Happy With Some Of The Specs

Had my 2010 since last December. Minor alarm issue for me too (very infrequent and never sure if I hit the panic button) but other than that its been a dream. Tows my trailer without effort, and runs flawless. Just approaching 13,000 KM's.

Rock solid...only bitch is the RNS510 being less than up to what is available on the market today...and as Yeti has said the de-contenting of the options.

Coming up on 23k mi (and replacement of the OE tires) since taking delivery in Oct. '09. Engine has settled in nicely, and easily lugs through most onroad climbs and offroad obstacles. Mileage also appears to have improved, to the point where my daily drive often flirts with 30 mpg average on the MFD.

Sorry, but my mileage is not that good, local traffic between 20 and 22 and freeway at 70 to 75 MPH about 25 to 26 on the MFI. When I checked my mileage after a refill, it is about 1.5 MPG less than the MFI. I have close to 16,000 miles on the Odometer. I noticed in heavy stop and go, the mileage goes way down, understandably to get 5,500 pounds moving again. But it does accelerate very well. I am quite happy with my 2010 CDI.

Give it time....that engine has quite a way to go before it breaks in. VW TDI's are notorious for lousy mileage the first few km's on the odometer.

My Passat TDI, only after close to 5 years of ownership, did it really seem to finally strut its stuff as far as excellent fuel economy was concerned. I too remember thinking when I first bought it, "man this thing should be doing better." It would never break the 1000km mark on the 62 liter tank. Once I passed the 100000km+mark however, I was able to. Go figure :-k

Has anyone purchased a used '10 TDI, if so any issues or things to be on the lookout for?

I'm starting to think about it and like what I'm reading online so far with the 09/10 TDIs.
I just bought used 2009 Touareg TDI that was a dealership managers previous car. So I got a Lux and Tech package, plus a hitch for 40.5k We were considering the last new 2010, but it was a base model @ 39.5k. We bought the used one with 8k miles instead of the new one, due to the exterior color, interior and exterior upgrades. It is truly amazing how much better the driver gauges look at night vs. the base model.

Are we stupid for buying used for $1k more with 8k miles? Too late now I guess.

8k miles IS new on a diesel...

Got miine with 5K miles, it was the Dealers Managers which they used as a Demo. Puchased it for $39,995.00 with the Lux Pkge.

Although the car was in great condition the wheels had some pretty bad curb scrape, had to buy it as is. I replaced the wheels/tires soon after I bought it home.

Something to look out for when buying used.

Just turned 20k miles on my 2010 T2 TDI. No major problems to report. Key Fob triggers the alarm about 25% of the time when locking the vehicle, and the AM radio doesn't find many stations. Mileage is ~24 city, and 27-31 highway.

Using 2.5 gal of Adblue every 10k miles. Warning lights light up at 19.7k because the dealer didn't top off the Adblue tank at 5k, 10k, & 15k oil changes. They now have a 'new' policy to add Adblue every 5k.

The 19" tires are still about 1/2 tread left. When replacement time comes, I plan to bump up one width to get more sidewall clearance for the rims. The VW 19" wheels stick out farther than the tire, and are extremely succeptable to scuffing and scraping on any curb or pothole.

Only other complaint is the speedometer reads low by about 3 mph, and the cruise control +/- speed adjustment jumps the vehicle by 5 mph with each touch.

So far, the Touareg has been a blast to drive in any weather or road condition. The torque is surprisingly powerful, giving the Touareg good performance. It handles well, tracks straight, and isn't affected by any pavement it runs across. When towing you have to keep looking in the mirror to see if the boat is still back there.

If you hit the RES or SET after you've set your cruising speed, it will increment or decrement 1mph. The + and - do go to the nearest 5mph above or below. Something I learned along the way that I think is also documented in Touareg Secrets thread.

Glad you're enjoying yours too. I'm guessing the mileage you're quoting is MFD mpg rather than actual calculated? It tends to be a little high depending on tire size etc.

I am doing 20-21 in the city. I don't do enough highway miles to get a good reading on that. I am also running oversized tires and my mileage for city is manually calculated. Tires I am running puts the speedo dead on according to radar signs in the area and GPS. Although it is throwing the odometer off by 5%. :) I have to add that 5% back when I check mileage to get it to work out right.

Key Fob triggers the alarm about 25% of the time when locking the vehicle,

There is a service bulletin to replace the comfort module to fix the alarm problem. There is information somewhere else in this forum with part number and service bulletin number.

So I am about to pull the trigger on a base 2010 Touareg with the only extras added being a port installed hitch and a $400 auxillary input for my mp3 player.

I have a few questions, and the second one is clearly being asked on the wrong website (probably for a reason...)

1. Is 39,900 a good deal for a brand new 2010 with just the added hitch and input?
2. Should I really buy this thing over a 2011 Pilot EX-L with rear entertainment for $4k less money? I'm wrestling with this in my head because we are now a family of four. We plan to get a boat and/or a trailer in the future, and while 4500 lbs for the pilot is probably plenty, it's no 7700. Also, I'm a pretty tall guy, so I anticipate my two boys being 6 feet or taller. The Pilot certainly has ALOT more room in the second row.
3. The salesman has either avoided or been unable to answer these next two questions - if I put a professionally installed aftermarket stereo in the vehicle will this alter my warranty at all? We have owned 3 VWs, and the 03 TDI Golf and the 00-01 Passat wagon both had numerous electrical problems, amongst many other things.
4. Do the port installed hitches come pre-wired?
5. Should I get an extended warranty if it is offered, how much do they generally cost and will it be valid at any VW dealer? The vehicle I'd be getting is being purchased in another state and shipped to that dealer from yet another.
6. Having not seen the vehicle yet, does the Alaska Grey look alright with a beige interior? I have the choice of that or black w/ anthracite. I wanted the Alaska, but with the dark interior. I'm having a hard time visualizing grey and beige, although I love the both interior colors.
7. With a 3 yr old and a baby, should beige even be an option? How does it stand up to the daily wear and tear of 2 boys?

I made the mistake of driving the vr6 lux 2011 before getting the price on the base 2010, and the 11 is so unbelievably nice I'm having a much harder time with this decision now. My co-pilot won't let me spend the extra $7500 I was quoted for the 2011, but it really did sort of kill the appeal of the 2010 for me. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it, but they were like night and day.

One last question, which is more hypothetical. If I loved the 11 so much, would I be better off waiting til the end of next summer and trying to get a nice discount on a lux? The sticker was 49,800 and it was offered to me at 47,500. 45,000 is my cap. Will the 11 lux drop another 2500 in a year?

Thanks for all your help and for these amazing forums. There is just so much info here it's crazy. I've been reading thread after thread for days now!
