Cooling fan runs when fob is used to open the doors.

Just like the title says, I have a 2012 3.0 TDi and noticed recently that when I use the Key Fob to open the doors the engine cooling fan turns on (even when the car is cold) and operates a high rate of speed. The fan continues to run a max speed when driving, once I stop driving the fan continues to run for approx 5 mins.

I originally thought this was just a DPF regen but its been happening now for approx 3 weeks. (having driving 2k kms.)

Any thoughts as to why my fan is running at max speed when I open the doors. ( my wife now says its embarrassing as it sounds like a jet engine)

You desperately need a VCDS scan to get some information. I'd look first at if you're getting a signal asking for DPF regen. The symptoms you describe are linked directly to that.

11.1v indicates a low battery... something is going on... did you code the new battery when you got it? Was it OEM, proper type\size etc?

Yes it was OEM battery from VW Oakvillle, I had my aftermarket mechanic install but not sure if it was coded. How could I determine ?

You need to check coding status against the BEM sticker that would've been on the battery.

Check these videos for how to code the battery. If nothing else, just change the S/N so the vehicle knows the battery is different.

As per earlier. Read my battery post. Look up battery status. Log battery voltage and or system charging while in use. Your battery is very drained
Pull history file and use vcdtoolbox to examine it.
Also check voltage and condition of fan module connector.
