Looking to speak with a fellow October 2015 (build date - from the compliance plate/sticker) AND has the VW Tow Control module installed.

Bonus points if you live in Perth or have access to VCDS

Close but not quite - I have a September 2015 build date with factory-fit towbar - it's SE trim which was base level in the UK but it's a V6 TDi not a V8 - I've got VCDS but not an expert on using it.

Thanks for the response. A V6 engine variant may still provide the info I am seeking.
I am particularly interested in what part number/version module was used (in yours).
If you have a previous scan (VCDS) of your car, I would like to see the data/info for module 69.
Would you be able to assist please?

Thanks to those who have replied.
I am pretty sure we have sufficient info (from this group as well as the Australian Touareg Owners at Facebook).
We are currently installing a tow module to my R Line and we came across a "Module not found" error on VCDS. Some of our investigation has revealed that VW may have used/issued up to 4 variants of the module between the years 2013 and 2018 (on the R Line), so our first concern was that the module I (now) have may not be be best suited for my 10/2015 build.
I think from the info provided, we can cross that one off and move on to the next step of our troubleshooting. Won't be able to update until (maybe) next week, as the social calendar for this week is pretty full.

Thanks guys and girls.

Hi Steve, i take it that you added the trailer module to the can gateway first, and you have joined the canbus connectors located near where the trailer module is installed?

Take another read through this thread if not. Pretty sure I installed the same westfalia tow module kit that you have on my 2016 / MY17 wolfsburg.

g'day mate.
Yep, same unit.
When we pulled the rear interior panels away to reveal where the module goes, we identified cabling/connectors coming from the drivers area (front). We assumed (bad move by the looks of it) that the cabling was pre-connected at factory. We went ahead and did the physical install of the unit. I then drove home and and loaded up VCDS, added module 69, then went ahead and adjusted the affected modules. It was at this stage that I noted that additional fuses needed to be installed. Did that. Ran a scan of the modules...no comms with 69. Disconnected VCDS, locked the car and went and had a coffee. Tried VCDS again...nothing.
So, we are now questioning if that pre-installed cabling is actually sending power to the module. My (social) calendar is hectic this week, so I don't envisage us being able to tackle it until next week.
Morale of the story. We saw wiring there and assumed it was good to go. I know.... to assume makes an Ass out of U and Me 🤣
Next week we will go right back to square one with electrical diagrams and multi-meters.

AND................ tow module works.

Definitely a HUGE oversight by Westfalia to not include in their comprehensive instruction manual to connect the two CANBUS wires/connectors. We attacked the interior panels this morning. 45 minutes later.... connected.

Coding (another story there) was completed by lunchtime, so Ivan and I went off and had an awesome pub steak lunch (you missed out @evaddirb  )

Took a moment this afternoon to connect the caravan (wiring) to the car. Hit the key fob to open the tailgate, and it unlocked and opened a fraction. Perfect. Checked the operation from the drivers door switch... same result.

So very confident that the rest of the coding is correct. Will know when I do a run to the landscape yard in a week or so with the trailer.

Thanks to all who offered assistance, coding etc. That is what this forum is all about, getting in and helping fellow members.

Cheers
