Hey everyone,
I have about a year left in emissions extended warranty and when it expires I would like to delete all the emissions crap and do a Malone tune and a tranny fix. I have a few questions
Does it trigger check engine light?
Will I pass the yearly obd2 plug in emissions test?
Anyone in SL,UT area to perform the work or can recommend someone close?

It hides a check engine lights but the flags will not show in an obd emissions scan as ready. If you live where they do emissions checks you'll fail.

I got a flashzilla and should be able to install a stage 2 by tomorrow. I had to wait for them to acquire and upload the "new" stock tune to their database. They emailed me today and say they now have the file.

I'll update on how it goes!
HI, CAN I DO THIS MYSELF WITH MY OWN LAPTOP AND AN OBD READER? I NEED TO REFLASH MY ECU AND DELETE THE EGR CODE.

For the record if you are worried about boost pressures/turbo longevity you can do a stage 1 tune (to keep boost closer to stock) AND delete the DPF/SCR to benefit from the reduced EGTs.

That said.. some in here are eluding to a malone tune reverting the shifting back to pre-fix behavior. Has this been confirmed? I thought the transmission controller was separate (comes up as Aisin on a module scan), but could be wrong.

In my state they don't do emissions tests but all ECU monitors have to be ready. I was told that Malone cannot fool ECU monitors. Is there a tune that can get all monitors ready with Adblue and DPF deleted?

Nope. Not in diesel nor gasser.

Hi - New Zealand here with a 14 TDi V6 - mine is the 180Kw version. Here in NZ we didn't have all the "fix" stuff as we don't emissions test at annual warrant of fitness inspections at all.
From new we have DPF and CAT but no AdBlue or diesel fluid to worry about.
The DPF and CAT can be removed and the car will still pass inspection. It will still pass with CEL on actually lol

I'm looking to change tune and remove DPF / EGR to improve economy and get rid of trouble spots. Ideally I'd like stage 2, no DPF, no CAT, no EGR and straight pipe to suitcase.

As mine is 180Kw (240HP) from new, will stage 2 actually be noticeable performance increase?
Currently gets average of 9.3L per 100k (25 mpg US / 30mpg UK). Is this likely to improve much?
I have the mechanical ability to do the downpipe etc myself but don't have a VCDS or Flashzilla. Am I better to do the mechanical bits first and trigger a CEL and then drive to a tuner for the tune OR tune 1st and then change the downpipe? If I do that (turn off DPF/EGR 1st) I presume the DPF will then not regen so how soon do I need to remove it before it becomes clogged?

Thanks all for the input.

You can't drive with delete and no software. Every subsystem in your car will be going haywire. Dpf needs off immediately with sisters software delete. Stage II is noticable but she'll still be quite slow.

They are under 8sec 0-100 bone stock. Our 180s are claimed 0-100 of 7.6sec. However, at the end of the day, it's a 2+ tonne SUV.
Agreed
