Ordered the part from the Czech Republic, wish me luck!

I have a friend who is a VW Specialist, his workshop is not near my home but I have a meeting out that way in early December so I'll get him to fit it then.

factory service manual says front bumper needs to be removed. Not sure the clearance in there, it might not be necessary. It all depends on the technician that's working on your car. My T3 in China had a fried rear lid opening control module, dealer quoted labor including removing lid's lower trim. I bought a part online, went to an indie shop just across the street of the dealer, the tech there just reached in his arm and swapped the module blindly and I was out of the door in 15 minutes...

Has anyone managed to do this themselves, hopefully without taking off the bumper? My front camera just up and died on me.

EDIT: Never did anything about this, but a week or so later it just started working again and it's been two years now and it's still fine.
