Hi. I am based in Harlow Essex UK. I used to own a V10 SE and it was a fantastic car. I had a VW used car warranty and it was a worthwhile purchase. I am considering buying a R50. I have found one with 83000 miles. I am planning to see it in the next week or so. The car is for sale in Oxford UK. Does anyone know of a local specialist who could evaluate the car for me?

I used to live near Horspath but not heard of these folk, however they seem to have been going for a few years:

Looks good - the only thing I don't like is 5 owners.

Don't you just love it when people post once and then simply don't bother responding?!

Black Touareg 08 plate 3.0 TDi Altitude with running boards

Awesome car! Great MPG approx 40+ on longer journeys stick it on cruise control and enjoy! Practically drives itself.
Only problem need to repair air con have a split pipe and VW parts are quoting just short of ÂŁ300 for an aluminium Pipe!!!! Having a Laugh! Looking at options at the moment! Live in MK North Bucks.

Hi all.

Adam here, based in Cambridgeshire, UK.

2005 V10 - rescued from a scrapyard, written off due to needing new engine cassette previous owner had a ÂŁ6k quote from VW to repair. (engine out job (what isn't on a V10?? lol)).

Now repaired, and up and running. He who dares wins as they say )

Kudos to VW Leeds though, they had stripped it to bits meticulously - every part's nuts/bolts/gaskets etc was in its own labelled cardboard box, making the rebuild much more straight forward. Cheers to the tech there!

Its my second treg and i absolutely love them, would love to take it to an off road course/event if anybody knows of any?

Cheers all

Hi. I have a 2016 Bluemotion V6 S-Line. Very pleased with it. First one I have owned and will definitely look to replace with another when the time comes.
Have used Inchcape VW in Colchester for the servicing so far. No too impressed so would appreciate any other recomendation in the Colchester Essex area. Thx and all the best, Jarrad

Hi

Based in Leeds West Yorks.

I have a 3.2 with an LPG conversion. Grey with light leather interior. When I bought it front diff was replaced. Propshaft and brake discs/pads done before purchase.

The car was imported from Dubai as a special order - regd in 2007 - but after some digging I managed to speak with the first owner. The car was new when delivered. This has caused a couple of headaches already as when I've been after a part the chassis number isnt recognised! - any tips on this problem - I would be grateful!

One thing I was curious about was the controls for the heating and the fan. I have noticed that my facia does not have the digital type of indicator (bars) next to the controls. Also on the dash - the window for information (distance/consumption/MFI/etc is not as large as others I have seen??

I had loads of cars....last one was Subaru Outback. Also had a Hi Lux. The Touareg is just a wonderful car. Comfortable, safe and can provide the power when required.

Only niggle is that the Brake assist, ABS and ESP lights come on after about 30mins when on motorway. I think this could be a faulty speed sensor?

Any get togethers in the Leeds/ West York/North Yorks areas I'd be interested for tech tips and a natter

No one does "get togethers" in the UK.

Do read the thread link in my signature - "buying a used Touareg" - so you know what else may come your way and are ready for it should it occur. Careful reading could save you money!

Also look on mytreg at the thread for VCDS owners. You may find someone local for that which would be useful as your car clearly needs a scan to see what faults are recorded to get to the bottom of your motorway driving fault.

Hi am still run a now long in tooth V6td in north shropshire. I only have it because I tend to run cars into the ground, this could take a little more time. I am the most sedate of drivers and find the car thinks it is accomplishing 28MPG and the filling station maintains 25MPG. At 125,000 miles I imagine it is worth very little so will see how long it will keep going. I have changed engine oil every 10,000 miles and gearbox oils every 50,000.
The only persistent unusual problem I have had is battery not being fully charged so lots of under voltage issues, the alternator is fine, so irritating electronics in between is the issue. In winter I put the battery on a charger.
I do not find the drivers seat comfortable any more, is anyone scraping one out with a decent drivers seat?
