Flew down to Sydney to check out a couple of R Lines yesterday and ended up buying one.
2017 MY17 with 8000km
Towbar being fitted tomorrow then I fly down Fri morning to pick it up and drive back to Brisbane with a stop over at a friends in Coffs Harbour overnight.
Had the pleasure of meeting up with Singh and talking all things Touareg.
Can't wait extremely happy :)

Nice. Good to see another R-Line floating around Brissie. I'm in the indooroopilly region.

Congratulations.

Now, tell me about that first Oh My God moment when you test drove it?

"Now, tell me about that first Oh My God moment when you test drove it?"

Salesman came with me for the test drive had given it a little bit a few times then he said "turn right here and you can give it to it all the way onto the motorway" as he changed the suspension and transmission to sport mode.
Slowed down to 15kmh then nailed it to 120kmh.
SOLD SOLD SOLD raced through my brain, haven't experienced acceleration like that since I sold the TRX850
Such a smooth sedate drive with all that torque waiting to be unleashed.
Loved the Silverado but this is pure Lust.

you had a Trixxie? Oh man...we have a lot in common (altho' my ride is the FJR)

I knew you'd salivate at that torque. Congrats. What colour/options etc?

It's a small world when you break it down.
Had the TRX from 97 to 2001 Red/Black/Silver absolutely loved it but got sick of the very tall first gear in stop start traffic riding into the city for work every day. Replaced it with Kawasaki W650 nowhere near the power and torque but extremely comfortable and easy to ride in traffic sold it in 2015 when I started early retirement.

R Line is ex VW Australia vehicle in White with Sunroof still has 4 years warranty left.
Will be setting it up to tow our new van (yet to be ordered) and heading off in 12 to 18 months to come back over to WA and do the south west corner around Feb/Mar when the weather is best apparently. We were in Esperance in Dec 2015 and froze with the south westerlies, absolutely beautiful but couldn't wait to get to Kalgoorlie for Xmas/ New Year and warm up.

Hi Snerlo

We are renting on Bribie Island for the next 12 months.

Good stuff. Well I hope the car buying process goes smoothly for you. Enjoy the drive back north.

Pretty disappointing.
Kym picked the car up this morning...... and no pictures posted yet.

10 days on and still extremely happy with our purchase, smile every time I drive it.
Had a minor hiccup at pickup, they had fitted the tow bar but failed to perform the service on it so had to wait for that to be done before heading to Coffs Harbour.
Setup the bluetooth for my mobile and found I couldn't send any txt messages or use my phone for the internet. My Samsung S9 had setup with rSAP which hands over the SIM to the car and disables the use of the phone itself, didn't get any notification of txt messages that had been sent to me during the drive home. I have since worked out how to connect the phone as a hands free phone (HFP) and now I can still use the phone independently and receive txt messages while connected to the car.
Motorway was very busy for the first 20kms and then finally cleared up and I went to set the cruise control only to get a message "ACC and Front Assist is not available" not happy Jan had to drive all the way to Brisbane without cruise control. Dealer claims it was checked for error codes when they serviced it and none were reported. The display shows the cruise control symbol in grey as though it is turned on but no speed is set. Cannot turn it off or set a speed I am yet to take it to a dealer to be rectified under warranty.
Fuel consumption for the trip back to Brisbane was 8.1L/100km which probably could have been better if the cruise control was working and I didn't take every opportunity that arose to make full use of the 250Kw and 800Nm.
Have worked my way through the owners manual trying to learn how everything works, wife keeps telling everyone he is always down in the car park sitting in the new car.
Spent the last 2 days clay barring and polishing it, last coat of sealant goes on tomorrow morning then off to Queensland Transport to transfer the Rego.

Thanks to all on here who gave me advise and information during my research of the Touareg prior to the purchase, it was much appreciated and helped make the final decision to pursue the R Line.

Congratulations on the new purchase and joining the R-Line club. Enjoy.

Tip: Those rim are ultra easy to scratch against a kerb.

Press the 360 camera (when parallel parking) and press the left section of the camera area to view your front left wheel distance to the kerb.

Also, use the aerial view when navigating fast food drive throughs.

I learnt the hard way and now all my rims are scuffed up.

Thanks nm2003 I am very cautious when anywhere near a gutter and have been using the camera as you suggest.
One of my rims has a very small mark and the others are perfect.
I will be changing rims in the near future probably to 19s as we will be towing a caravan.
Don't want to mark the 21s as I will put them up for sale, I can't see me ever putting them back on so no point storing them for ever.

The cruise control was fixed yesterday. Had a tow bar fitted by the dealer in Sydney as part of the purchase. They did not code it correctly grrrrr !

When you're ready to sell the 21's let us know. I'm sure there will be at least 4 of us wanting a full size spare. I'll have one... I tow with the 21's and have never had an issue but a full size matching spare on the back of the van would be nice.

Will do paulie, I thought there may be a few who want a 21 as a spare or even someone who wants to bling their Touareg. They are great looking wheels.
I've decided that the extra sidewall height of the 19s will have a bit more give and for the odd occasion we go off road I won't be stressing about damaging the rims.
Could be a while before I get the 19s

Its always up to you if you want to sell the 21s, but if you have the room to store, I would suggest keeping them and put them back on when you eventually end up selling them.

You may find it easier to sell privately if the car has a near new new set of unmarked alloys, when the time comes.

PS. I know this advice will piss off those that want to buy them off you really cheap. ?

^^^^
yep, the exact reasons why my unmarked 21" Malory rims are stacked up in my garage. ;)
