I was thinking about this the other day. Either completely remove the tank assembly, or fill it. If you leave it empty, the remaining traces of DEF will crystallize and in the future should you or another owner choose to use the system again, it will probably be clogged up.
Adblue/DEF has a shelf life of around a year - so don't simply leave it in the tank - empty it and flush it through with de-ionized water.

How do you delete the ad blue tank without it throwing codes? If your state has emissions tests how do you pass the test? Isn't the whole diesel gate about to high emissions with the diesel engines? I'm puzzled to say the least. I don't care since my state doesn't have emission ,but most states do.

As the OP stated, he has a tune which deletes the DEF system, so no codes will be thrown. When it comes to emissions testing, he will pass as there will be no codes.
More like 43 lbs - it's a 19.5 litre tank.
