When i purchased my Touareg i really wanted the new NAV system, Bluetooth, and the engine spin trim that was available in Germany and on the Lux Limited package, but i also wanted a V10TDI. I saw the exact touareg i wanted in a 2009 Brochure.. but unfortunatly for me it was a German brochure.. so instead of ordering the car i wanted i had to build it... and i am finally done with the first round of mods:) Many people have asked me to do a full write up on everything i did.. so i am working on that... I will have it ready in a few weeks. But.. for now.. here's the first photo of my 2008 Touareg V10TDI with my interior mods:) All the parts are from VW and they are the exact part numbers found in a 2009/2010. I added an RNS510, VW factory bluetooth, factory steering wheel buttons for BT/Voice, the Euro cubby, and a full set of Engine Spin trim. I LOVE the result!!!! Very unique.. and exactly what i wanted! The only thing left to do is mount my 20" wheels and install the factory MDI (ipod/USB) kit which is sitting on my desk. I learned that you can really do anything.. and that parts are all out there.. you might have to go to Germany to get them.. but it's worth it!

That is looking VERY sharp!

Very unique!

The engine spin trim with the Sienna is quite daring, and something you must have put some thought into, before the actual execution. I'm impressed!
Thanks. I have a lot of brochures from Germany that show all the trim options they have available over there... so that helps. One day i was in Irvine and swung by and chatted with Josh at OEMPlus... he happened to have samples of all the trims so i could actually see what they look like. I did spend a lot of time figuring out which color would work best. Almost went with Piano Black... but really happy i went with the Engine Spin.

Looks great, congrats!

Wow, very nice Greg. Of course your well thought out upgrades are nice but just pics and the thought of another V10, makes me :)

I took an old friend for a ride in Tregasaurus about two months ago, he was so smitten he searched and searched and found a 28K mile V10 in Texas. he called me all beaming about his first impressions of it. *Hopefully* he will join up here and give some pics and feedback8)

in my write up i will include all the prices and what i spent. Also because every part i took off my Touareg was basically new i was able to sell them (in most cased to members of CT).. so i wasn't out all the money i spent. For example.. my RNS2 DVD Nav was worth some money as was my complete and perfect Walnut Trim set. $3K-$4K is about right, I purchased all the parts from various places... some from Tim at Capitol VW (he has been super helpful and managed to get me the RNS510 when no one else could.) I also travel to Germany every few months so i would have part numbers with me and i would go in and order what i needed and they would have it ready for me before i left town... but the Euro being so strong at the time didn't help reduce the price all that much. It was not an inexpensive project... if i had to do it all over again know the cost and the work involved would I? I guess the answer is yes... but there is a long pause before that "yes" because it was expensive and some of the parts are just a lot of work to replace... but i like projects and i certainly have learned how to take apare the interior of my Touareg:).

Ha.. good question... but i don't have much planned... I love my Touareg the way it turned out. Next week i will put on my new 20" wheels, but that's about it. I am sure i will eventually come up with something... but i think I need to let the wife spend some money on shopping for a bit before i deserve to spend more on the Touareg:).

Nope... everything is pretty much plug and play. In fact the VW Bluetooth module from a 2009/2010 works great in a 2008 w/ RNS2 DVD nav system. I have no idea why VW didn't make this an option in 2008.. i just plugged it in and it worked. (I did have to run a wire from my mic (which was already there!) to the BT module, but that was all.

We need to figure out how to get the gear indication next to the *D* and *S*, I been looking into that for a while now.
All of the NAR T1's and ROW T2's have it. For some reason VW eliminated it from the NAR T2

Do we get it back if we VAG the cluster to ROW? I know on my wife's TT they just flashed the DSG tranny and now we don't get the gear number next to the D or S.. everyone is pretty pissed about the change (since we had it and now it's gone) but Audi doesn't seem to care.. no explination for the change... but who knows... likely too many Americans driving in saying "why does this number keep changing on my dash. Anyway.. i have to take my Treg in to get the MFD flashed to a new version soon (they tried last time i was in and they couldn't get it work) and i will let you know if by chance the new software adds it to the Treg. (the flash is an update to the MFD on my 2008 to move the outside temp display (it's currently in the right corner.. but it goes away every time another icon shows up (headed steering wheel, low fuel, etc.) the new SW also adds the PHONE menu for my Bluetooth unit :).

My instruments are set to ROW, no change in gear indication.
It did change my alt speed as selectable on the MFD. It also move my cruise control icon to where the alt speed display is. When I turn on my cruise, the alt speed goes away and it becomes my cruise setting.

Let me know about the flash.

I will let you know how it goes.... it's a TSB i found one day. I was always very annoyed that when my heated steering wheel was on, I was low on fuel, or if my wife was in the car with her key ("multiple keys in car icon") I would lose my outside air temp.. it's simply replaced by the other icons and there's no way to get it back (without throwing my wife's key out the window.) Anyway.. turns out there is a TSB to fix this... dealer didn't know anything about it and it would only apply to a few 2008 V10's (and i don't think there's a ton of those around to start with.)
