Well I finally took my Treg to the dealer to have the trans looked at. It is slipping between 4th and 5th and has hard downshifts sometimes. I took the advise of some fellow members and made sure the Treg was nice and warm when I brought it in. The dealer was actually pretty reasonable. They agreed that the extended warranty would cover the diagnosis, then Fidelity would have to come out and diagnose and approve the repair. However, no rental car coverage until Fidelity looked at it and approved. hmm, well they offered a shuttle service. The shuttle service turned out to be me driving my car home with one of the shop guys who took it back to the dealer and picked me up later with their van. No big deal, they added that it would help heat up the trans before the tech looked at it. So I get back to the dealer and they say your car is ready. What did you find I asked? Well they did a TCM flash and updated the software according to TSB01 07 05. Ok, we'll see. At first it seemed better, no hard downshifts, then I noticed the slip is still there between 4th and 5th. Call them back when I got to work and long story short, it is going back tomorrow morning to have Fidelity come out and look at it. They said they will arrange for Enterprise to pick me up. Rental car covered? They said they will work it out, we'll see. Considering Fidelity refused to replace my leaking power steering unit because they claimed it was "seeping" not leaking, I am not very optimistic about having my trans repair being approved. I've got about 10k miles and 11.5 months left on my extended warranty, I guess if they can play games long enough they will be clear and free. To top it off, there is a bright yellow sticker on my paperwork saying I may be contacted by VW for a survey, and they "trust that I am completely satisfied and that I WILL give them a 100% grade." Sure no problem! To be continued...
