Hey guys - I know @yuyueyuyue was looking into this and hopefully a few others were. As an alternative to Racechip's affordable piggyback tune, MTM does offer a true Stage I tune for our car. I reached out to them last week and the price they quoted was roughly $1600 for the 110hp tune - an easy 40 over the piggyback. That's about half of what it said on the website.

The caveat is that you have to bring the car to their Miami shop or mail your ECU to Germany - 3 weeks estimated turn around. I am weighing my options, but I think it's great that this exists!

The classifieds section says I must post pictures, price, and all other details but I’m not officially selling my truck. Just wanted to know if there would be interest or perhaps someone looking to potentially buy a 2015 Hybrid White/Tan which has the upgraded body of front and rear lights, plus all the other options found in the Executive trim minus Dynaudio although I modified the stereo settings via Vag-Com and now it almost sounds like Dynaudio lol. Under 25k miles and VW Certified.

Wanted to reply earlier but I kept forgetting my password...lol

I’d say if MTM is within your budget, then go for it. A tune is always better than a chip.

Fun fact, with added torque, this thing really squats under full acceleration... It is no where as quick as .. say an M3, but the sensation is scarier! Feels like it’s ready to take off! Probably due to the weight and the fact we can’t choose but getting the “Komfort” suspension here in North America...

I get a really loud rattling sound when starting the engine that only lasts 1-2 seconds but only happens when car hasn’t been started for a few days.

Wanted to post a video of it but not sure how to upload a video. Is this possible thru the Tapatalk App or must it be done online?

Mine rattles until the oil builds up pressure, seems pretty common with this engine.

Yea same here and if I start it everyday I won’t hear it. Only if it hasn’t been started for couple or more days.

Speaking of repairs, mine was leaking coolant since last May. Not enough to take it in but definitely kept an eye on it. It would come and go until it finally started giving me low coolant warnings. Problem was the coolant shut off Valves. One one leaking, both had crud. Parts for both were 200, labor however was expensive since both valves are in the back of the engine. Almost a 7 hour job. At least it wasn’t something major. About 110k on the clock, runs like a top.

Yea it’s a no brainer to take mine in if VW Certified since I shouldn’t pay a dime. Once it gets close to being out of warranty I’ll consider buying a new extended one. That labor job you mentioned is a pain wow.

Ouch. I had to replace the stupid plastic thermostat a few months ago which they brilliantly put under the supercharger. I did it myself because I was getting quoted $700+ and it only took me two hours.
Our engine has a different build code than the A6 and S4 but is nearly identical. It does however run a Bosch ECU instead of the Simos used in the other cars.

What’s the significance of a Bosch ECU over others?

I hear you. AXQ V8 owner here. My VW thermostat is behind the timing belt. Thanks a lot Mr VW engineer.

You have the only engine choice in the later Touaregs that I found interesting. The supercharged V6 was the only fun gas option available in later years.

@Moonyock I did plugs and ignition coils. It's good preventative maintenance on these engines to take care of the coils too. It's a 20 minute job, just be gentle with the plastic clips for the coils. Roughly $150 from Rock Auto with Denso 5311 Iridium plugs, they use a 16mm deep socket.

OK, so standard job. I just wasn't sure if there was anything special that had to be done with regards to the hybrid system other than, you know, avoid the bright orange cables. Dealer wants $400 parts and labor and I said I think I can handle it.

Same dealer told me I was out of warranty for a transmission fault caused by a worn wire on my 11 with 88k. Rang up VWOA and they escalated my case and put an RCM on it to hopefully get it covered under warranty. Hoping to hear the good news later today.
