Coming home from 55000km service last night, pleased that brakes and tyres still have some life. Then this happened...hit a pot hole in the dark...

I understand a consequence of owning this car is that all tyres must be identical in circumference which translates to four new tyres?.

I'm finding plenty of forum threads about off road and 50/50 tyres but does anybody have any suggestions for pure road tyres? I am considering partial offroad tyres as my driveway - 200m gravel and sandstone - does damage the tyres a fair bit surprisingly. But 100% on road apart from that. Priority is longevity over sport performance.

Unfortunately with larger diameter wheels like yours, the profile gets lower and the sidewalls become softer as there is less rubber there. It is one of the downsides of low profile tyres, however on the flipside they tend to handle like a rocket on rails.
Go to Coates hire or similar and hire a small flat drum vibrating roller and run it up and down the driveway for a few hours and you will be surprised how many stones will break up thus causing less tyre damage.
As for tyre suggestions, I reckon if you got 55000kms out of the Eagles and still some left, that is pretty damn good for a low profile tyre. If you've been happy with them, when you're on a good thing, stick with it.

I've seen the pic you posted on another tread, that tyre looks absolutely RS and I wouldn't be driving on it, agree with Autodas that 55K is exceptionally good for these type of tyres, I doubt that your driveway was responsible for the damage you show, seems to be delamination blisters, my guess would be that there is a problem with the rubber composition.
I waould also post that pic here as it is pertinent to this discussion.

Anyway, I've been happy with my Maxxis S Pro SUV 275/45ZR20 110W so far, very quiet and handle beautifully but that's to be expected with a new tyre in that size and profile.

Cannot comment on longevity as I've only done less than 10K on them and still look new, something for you to consider.

Pricewise they seem to be in the lower price range, $360-390 but seem a little difficult to source for some reason.

The picture, above, showing the ripped wall is a rear tyre. I hit a pothole a few kms from home. The rears do not suffer from the flaking/chipping that I get on the fronts. When I read the other thread that you refer to, where others confirm similar experience with the F1s (all of us on original tyres on vehicles purchased 2013 or close to), it made me think that my rough driveway is not responsible. Just flawed tyres.

Both front and rear have a little over 5mm of tread remaining. And my (new)service mechanic had earlier that day drawn my attention to the fronts but was not so concerned that it warranted new tyres. He actually asked me if I went off road much - I don't - saying it was typical of what might happen with a road tyre and to keep an eye on them. Again incriminating my driveway.

Enter...the pot hole...reading threads on this forum...quick tyre education on the 'net...

Upon enquiring with my tyre dealer on the phone about a preferred tyre - Toyo Proxes ST2 not available in size or even the ST which turned out to be out of stock in this State - he coincidentally mentioned the F1s are on special for $249. (I was aiming for $300-$350 so pretty hard to ignore. Also the F1s actually have a good reputation!?) I told him my experience, backed by others on this forum and their photos. Today I go for a chat and show him my tyres.

Despite the obvious negatives these tyres have provided good handling and grip with potentially good life. If I can get a clear guarantee that the flaking will not happen then I'll go ahead and fit a new set of F1s.

Pic of the front wear for this thread as suggested...

We currently have a set of Goodyear F1 on our 2014 Toey. Replaced a previous set of same tyre. Good wear when given a proper wheel alignment. No issues with either set. 99% driving on sealed roads, most not up to freeway standard - ie typical country roads, broken bitumen, pot holes, dirt verges etc. I would certainly buy another set, but cost can be a factor - plenty of variety in the market.

We bought the car (2014 model in March 2016) with 29k on it. Fi's fitted at the time were pretty close to new. We changed them at 70k (thereabouts), just touching the wear bars. Currently 93k on car and probably a bit over half worn. Last service at 90k, dealer said they were wearing evenly and did not bother rotating them. Reckon we should get close to 40k which I think is good. Mind you, we don't flog them either, but do tow a 24' van from time to time - not often enough for my liking though.

Vredestein Ultrac Conti Recommendation

I run a set of Vredestein Ultrac Contis (274/45/R20) on my T3 V6TDI

Despite having them for over 20,000 km, they're showing very little signs of wear given their performance (Driving and Braking) in both wet & dry conditions. Admittedly i don't use my car on the track so i'm biased towards comfort and noise, instead of a softer compound and out grip.

Apart from being a very quiet tyre, an added benefit is their design protects the rim from getting damaged if driven over kerbs or light off road duty for example.

I have cooper discover 275/45/20 and not a fan, they were almost new when i got my treg and i have done 25k km and they are noisy and almost worn out they don't give much grip in the wet and i only use it on sealed roads. I am thinking about michelin latitude tour hp 295/40/20 if any one has any feedback on these thanks, vaughan.

Anyone had any experience with Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S? Am looking to do about 95% on road and 5% off.
They are on sale at Tempe Tyres for $265 and Bob Jane will match this as per their price matching policy.
Quiet and good handling on bitumen, adequate for minor off road.
However I have experienced 2 tyres at 19K tread chipping, Perelli replaced tyres at half price (pro-rata wear), Bob Jane fitted & aligned for free.
At 35K another tyre tread separated at the steel belt. Seems to me that there may been a production/quality assurance issue with the batch.

I have done approx 67K with maybe 5K left before replacement.

I originally purchased 5 tyres (spare for when towing) plus if we factor in replacement of 2 tyres at half worn that equates to 6 tyres rotated over the life giving an equivalent wear of 48K for a 4 tyre set.
