More HP and torque. Malone is probably the best with these tunes and while he doesn't claim the highest performance numbers, his tunes are reliable mechanically. I am now on about a month with my tune and love it. It's really remarkable what the 3.0 can do and the feeling of 500+ FTlbs of torque is fantastic. It can throw you back from a dead start, but really you notice it on the highway as it really moves from 60+. My milage wasn't fantastic this fill up, but probably due to flooring it every chance I get, even still it was like 23mpg.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2? I assume it's just higher boost and more fuel?

Any concerns about long term reliability with super high boost pressures?
super high boost? they arent runnning that high at all..even with a hybrid 2260 im only pushing 30psi, which requires a 4bar map sensor...at best stage 2 is 26-27...thats not a lot at all, my 2.0 tdi was pushing 32-34lbs for 4 years 270k..no issues

Ive been tuned and running 30psi for 2 years...100k and ive never had a hiccup, jr auto does amazing 3.0 tunes.

Just to follow up on the OP.

I got the TDI fix completed, and I got the Malone stage 2 map installed. I also got my money from VW, I'm still waiting on money from Bosch.

I have to say, the main thing I noticed on the remap was the lack of engine braking. The TDI fix map really wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be but did have a slight feeling of power loss. Could be in my head. Either way, the Malone tune certainly fills in the midrange with more usable power. It's interesting how low drama it is though since this is in a relatively quiet AWD car. Anyway, I'm happy. I still like the truck a lot, hoping to have many more trouble free miles out of it. Down the road I may do the emissions deletes but for now it runs great with just the tune.

For the record if you are worried about boost pressures/turbo longevity you can do a stage 1 tune (to keep boost closer to stock) AND delete the DPF/SCR to benefit from the reduced EGTs.

That said.. some in here are eluding to a malone tune reverting the shifting back to pre-fix behavior. Has this been confirmed? I thought the transmission controller was separate (comes up as Aisin on a module scan), but could be wrong.

No one can tune 8 spd aisin transmissions....As all the research ive done no one can break the coding...that includes malone

Engine braking it something I really love about driving this car, and I will be annoyed to lose it. When it is cold and doesn't do the engine braking I notice I have to push a lot harder on the brake pedal. I'm planning on also getting the DPF/SCR delete, and stage 2 tune from Malone. Does the engine braking return with the tune, or no? If not, I'm wondering if it is something they can do.

Thanks for this information. Depending on the amount of money I'm offered, I might forgo the sorry money, and just get the delete and tune to keep the engine braking. I wonder if there would be any reason not to do that, other than money? I know VW has said they won't be able to repair parts of vehicles that never received the fix, but if those parts are all deleted, it shouldn't matter?

Anything tunable eventually will be tuned....
The problem is there needs to be enough financial incentive to make it worth someone's time. At this point I don't think the people capable of messing with it are interested.

You can still use manual mode.. that's enough to keep me happy with the large amount of money I got. For now, anyway.

Tuners on a BMW forum collectively cracked and are able to tune their transmissions. My 335d's transmission is tuned by them, https://www.xhpflashtool.com/

They only support BMW, but its not a stretch to say they couldn't also do VW if they had the opportunity.

It all started with this thread, and individuals wanting to have the option.

There is no reason to...this thing deleted is ROCK solid...t3+ the only real issues with them are def and emission crap....trust me delete and tune you will LOVE it

yes and bmw use zf transmissions not aisin....the secuirty on these is intense and most wont or cant crack it. Most tuners cant, or wont because there are maybe a handful of people who will pay for it..therefore not profitable

Dodge guys have been trying to get people to crack their aisins for years...still not done.

Heres a quote "I've have already gave Franz at RaceME my mind on tuning the Aisin. They simply say it would be nice if they crack the encryption of the Aisin controller but don't guarantee if it will ever happen. I understand the thing is written in Japanese jibberish"

I agree. Delete and tune and this thing becomes a rocket. I still need to figure out how to make it sound good without spending a year welding things..
BMW uses very unreliable ZF trannies(not considering the dual clutch ZF!). Stay away from the 6-speed ZF, trust me. If nit possible, make sure you change the oil @100k km or sooner.

Well we have quite a few guys pushing their twin turbo six cylinder diesels, upwards of 500hp and 700tq depending on the tuner and options; and transmissions are holding perfectly fine.

However, what I was posting is that its possible.
