Upgrading head unit.

How is the buzz repair coming along? Remember CanBus don't control the buzz. Did you check out Venom and marshatherson solutions?

Wish I was there with you. I can use the grounding tools I have to check where the interference is coming from. I found my trailer's wiring interference for the old HU this way.

Mine comes on to the navigation. But I haven't activated Bluetooth since I don't have a phone that'll connect that way.


The backup camera that I have needs power for might vision, so that'll be a little tougher to hook up. I ordered a dash cam and I'll put it and the GPS antenna behind the rearview mirror.


I noticed right off that the metal springs that are supposed to engage and hold the unit in are a little weak. I used some needle nose pliers and bent them out a little more so that they'd catch better. But since I haven't finished with all the wires I haven't pushed it in firmly and for good yet.


Lots of loose ends to tie up but overall I love it.

Ok, fixed the buzzing noise completely. Now my question is, do I need a splitter for the amp rca to run a single sub amp or just connect one side of the rca cable?
It's been too many years for me...lol

Here's what I did, the green connector on the vehicle harness, stripped it back and connected a wire to the shielding in it and then to the ground wire coming out of the head unit that is specifically marked ground.

I haven't gotten mine in that far even yet. It's very poorly fitting in my opinion. If the upper dash weren't attached to the hu frame it would be easy to fit, in thinking of modifying mine so that I can install the frame around the hu then putting everything together.

I'm done with it for now. I'm eventually ordering a backup camera, but that's a whole separate nightmare. I have, FM, AM, and I installed Spotify on there, and downloaded all my files on there, so I can play music without Internet. It's also got Netflix, and I'm putting a couple of movies on the 64 gig card. It sounds great, and with the Spotify EQ, it sounds even better. Overall, I'm satisfied.


The only other issue I have is the can-bus thing. One of the icons shows a little vehicle with an exclamation point, and it has something to do with the can bus. If you go into the factory settings, settings, there is an option to change the setup profile in the can bus tab. There are multiple vehicle options, including a touareg setting, but none really seem to be doing anything.

Maybe someone with more software savy can help with that.
