Is it me or is everyone else annoyed by the seat belt warning..I mean I can understand wearing your belt but If I want to go 3 houses down from my house I dont wanna wear my damned seat belt.

How do I disable this or is that possible?

I read something about a VAG - COM question is what the hell is a VAG COM, where do I get one, and is it easy to tell it to stop the beeping regarding the seat belt notification alarm.

On a slightly different point, when you disable this warning on a US spec car, does it disable it completely? No warning whatsoever...?

Mine works a little different. When you switch the ignition on, it chimes for about 5 seconds and then shuts up. The warning light in the cluster also goes out. It then stays quiet regardless of whether you are wearing a belt or not, until you switch off and start again.

Is this also a ROW setting? Can you program a US spec car to do the same?

I believe the way it functions for us is just the way it works in the US. We have to be protected from ourselves over here.

Absolutely, and don't even think of passing a law requiring motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. But lo should a driver no click it, they will tickit!

VAG will turn it OFF. No bells no lights, OFF. But please wear your seat belts. Mine got turned off when we did the acceptance for the Nav.

Not being buckled up will get you a ticket in Colorado if you are pulled over for some other offense. The legislature refused to pass a stiffer version that made a seat belt violation a primary cause for a citation.

Mine are turned off too.
I did because I sometimes have to sit idle for a while. I still wear my seatbelt though. That is habit

or do they need to understand how to disable the safety belt warning
It's always a good thing to understand what you're doing....

Or find someone in your area that has a VAG-COM and he/she can do it for you.

When I disabled my seatbelt warning, the chime went off completely as well as the light in the dash. The ONLY time I hear any form of a chime, is when I open the door and the key is in the ignition.

I've always done this mod. It is silly how they try to remind me of something that is never forgotten.

And for those who don't wear their belts...a broken face (or worse) will very quickly rectify that ;)

Yeah, and when they get their face broken, they can sue Ross-Tech for allowing them a means to disable the warning that would have reminded them to put on their seat belt and thereby save themselves from the broken face, win a few million dollars, have their face re-built, and with the funds left over, move to South Beach and live the good life.

After all, they didn't know that they were going to get into an accident and get hurt! Ross-Tech should have known that!! It's all their fault!!!

It's the American way, right?
