I've seen both this unit and the RNS510 and here's my opinion.

1. Price difference (in NZ) is $2000 with obviously the VW unit more expensive.
2. Audio quality on the Flyaudio unit is better than the RNS (on-board amo) pushing 4 x 45 watts. Prior to owning a T-Reg I had a superb 13 speaker factory-fitted McIntosh system in a Subaru that is one of the best systems you can buy so trust me I know a good sound when I hear one.
3. No MFD integration for navigation
4. iPod interation is OK but a bit limited, same for Bluetooth (i.e. if you have Bluetooth Premium this is better)

So you have to ask yourself if paying $2k is worth it, but depends on what features you are really wanting (audio, sat-nav, bluetooth, DVD etc.)

Ziggy - Based on your synopsis, I presume you've heard this unit in operation correct? so i want to ask some additional questions.

1) What is Bluetooth premium? Why is the bluetooth in this unit "limited"
2) How is the navigation system? I see it's a chinese map company - i've never heard of.
3) Have you seen the TPMS feature? I noticed you need to use their sensors
4) Have you seen the backup camera in action? I take it one cannot use the factory camera on this system.

BT Premium is the VW optional that uses the rSAP profile with your handset. This provides full MFD use - TXT messages, phonebook, numbers called etc. The Flyaudio unit is pretty standard by comparison and doesn't use the MFD in the same way.

Didn't see the nav in use (i.e. driving) but mapping is from the same source as other retail units sold here (i.e. Uniden). Looked fine from a display perspective.

Car didn't have TPMS installed but you're right, you need to use their sensors.

Back-up camera is good. Uses an OEM camera not the VW one.

Full install (i.e. with camera) takes about 3 hours. Also remember this unit does not have a HDD. That's another noticeable difference between this and the 510. Again you have to work out if all the extras are worth the additional $.

Today I have replaced my DVD based navigation in touareg 08 with the FlyAudio one, up to know I'm happy with with the features. I would like to ask:
- there are two buttons in the revers camera screen dose not respond when I touch them.. check the picture attched!!!
- is there a way to upgrade the software of the FlyAudio unit?
- how update the maps?

thanks

I don't think anyone here has much experience with this radio, although I could be wrong. If you don't mind, I think a lot of us would like to see pictures of the unit installed. Thanks!

Faisal - First of all, you look like a new member so welcome. Second of all you are going to have to answer alot of questions about that unit:D:D

To answer your initial question first - I really don't know about the buttons- is the screen responding in all other functions? There is a way to upgrade the maps - but it depends on the GPS software you are using - Since the GPS part of the unit runs on Windows CE it's just a matter of placing new maps on the SD card that work with the GPS software (ex. IGO software needs IGO maps. Yes you should be able to upgrade the firmware on the device - but that will have to come from FLY audio.

Now my (our questions)

1) How Much was the unit?
2) What features if any did you add to it as part of your purchase? Bluetooth?
If yes to bluetooth, what kind of functionality do you get with it? SMS? caller ID?
3) What mapping program are you using?
4) How is the Sound? Quality of the interface? (i.e. does it look cheezy?)
5) How did you connect it to the speakers? Directly (i.e. bypassing original amp)? If so did you use cross overs? throught the existing amp? new amp?
6) what kind of heads up display do you have between the Tach and Speedo? Red or MultiColor? What functions did you loose from that Display? i.e. we know that the navigation screen should be gone, but is the radio still there? All other info luke tyre pressure and such?
7) Since you had a Previous DVD Nav, I assume you had the backup camera already installed. Did you use this camera on the Flyaudio unit or did you have to install a new camera?

Please try and answer all the questions so I don't have to keep asking them!:D:D

And make us happy with Pictures. - Pictures of the different screens - with your insightful comments!

Seriously, I know i just want to know alot about it so don't take my being asserting in a personal way :) mkay!

I'm sorry, but this information really is not showing in red display. This showing on the display of head unit. However, at present FlyAudio working to solve this issue. Perhaps in the future this could be solved by installing new software.
