I got an open circuit vag code for the drivers door as well as the central antenna????

Can someone tell me where the components are???

And I don't mean the door handles...Im talking about the module, wire routing etc...

Thanx...

The Kessy antennas are located inside of the the rear bumper cover on the foam piece attached to the hitch or rear cross member. Once you have the bumper off you may be able to trace the wiring to the module.

I'm not really too keen on tracing wiring from the back bumper to the central dash area...

I was hoping someone could just tell me where these components were...

in my case with an 04 v8 and same symptoms the repair called for a new kessy module and come custom coding.

Test this:

CLear all codes and see if the buttons on your door handles work again to lock the car and if you can touch the handles againa nd they unlock the car automatically or with one pull.

If so, they will work for a while and then crap out again and you will see the error coded return.

I appreciate everyones help...

However, this is all stuff I've already found....

What I was hoping for was maybe someone who'd gone through these kinds of "explorations" and had maybe posted a how to or a few pics...

I'm a little scared of taking the interior apart since I seem to have a habit of breaking clips that I don't realize are there...

I' suppose I'll have to just take the plunge and maybe snap some pics of my own...

I watched them on numerous occasions trying to figure out my keyless entry problems, and it WAS numerous occasions! I had the updated module put in, all 4 handles changed and all the antennas changed before they finally figured out the problem by process of elimination. It was the last antenna, the one in the center console. The console itself is not hard to take apart, and the antenna is located under the sliding storage tray and power point. You'll have to take almost the whole center console apart to get at it, after watching them do it. Be careful with the spring loaded ashtray (storage) cover. They broke the spring mechanism and had to replace it. For getting the rest of the console apart, I believe you could probably just use Spockats instructions for his keyless go module?

Good luck

Hi,

Was your keyless problem an external and internal issue. I have had my 3rd module replaced. This time VW could not work out the issue, so I need to analyse the problem myself.

Around March this year, all external keyless entry failed, the door button went with it. Just recently, a few days ago, the keyless start started playing up with key not found.

However holding the key under the steering column, I can do a keyless start, to me this indicated a failure in the RFID receiver or the combiner that combines the antenna has failed, the other alternative is a loose/bad connection causing UHF RFDI signals to be heavily attenuated.

Question:-

1. Where is the "kessy" module located in a right hand drive vehicle?
2. Does any one have instructions for the keyless system, is there a TSB on this?
3. How many people have had there module replaced 1, 2 or 3 times and still issues?
4. how many people have had there second key fail, no reason?
5. How many people have experienced VW don't know what they are talking about?
6. The people who have had failures, do they un HF, VHF or UHF radios transmitters?
7. Does anyone have instructions to remove centre console?

Keen to hear any feedback.

Regards

Gerald

Gerald, do you think that RF (from HF or UHF) could be a possible cause?

Not sure,

There may be no receiver front end protection, the receiver's insensitive issue could be from excessive radiated RF power.

I need to get some more questions answered and they do a full RF analysis, or it could be a common problem with the receiver front end.

Like I said, holding the key under the steering wheel, it works everytime, however in the pocket it now fails each start.

Looking at other posts 30+ about remote keyless, there may be an inherent design problem.

Battery is 100%.

Regards

Gerald
