Thanks. Special trim removal tool?

I just used a thin bladed flat tip. Pry from the sides at the front of the panel. The trim is attached to a plastic frame underneath of it.

Thanks. Going to look on the German eBay. Another bean counter move not to give us these features.

I've always used fingers only to remove center console trims on all the cars I've owned. It's the easiest compared to door trims.

Open ash tray and armrest.
Pop up the shifter boot.
Put the left hand under the passenger side front corner through the shifter opening. (under the wood trim, not the shifter bezel.)
Put the right hand under the same corner from ash tray side. Put your right palm on the side of the center console as leverage. Then that corner will pop up with some force. As soon as you pull up the first corner, the rest will be very easy to do. Don't forget to slide forward a little when removing it.

*update on several days of use - it is a leg saver in traffic!

Yikes. I did not go to medical school.

My switch showed up Saturday and had some time yesterday to install is.

Just want to say, taking out that center console is a PITA. I was able to get it, but had to use a small flat head in order to do so. My trim kit was worthless when trying to pop that thing off.

Anyway, installed the switch in my 13 and, like others, it was a no go. Had to adjust the ABS module using Yuyueyuyue's instructions. Once I changed byte 16, it now works perfectly.

Just want to say thanks to everyone in this thread, and especially Yuyueyuyue, for figuring out the coding.

:-D

I ordered one from the German eBay site. Should arrive by Oct. 1. A fellow member near me is going to help with the install and coding.

Sorry I missed that. Would have purchased from you.

Thanks for figuring out the coding! Works on my 2013 TDI Sport. I think I had the switch installed but not doing anything for almost a year.

Has anyone here installed the auto-hold switch on a 2015 or 2016 model? If so, is coding the same?

What is the significance of the green? Just curious. Logically, red makes more sense for 'Park' than green...at least from an American point of view.

Red is still used for handbrake. Green is shown when sitting at traffic light while using auto hold.
Interesting. I have auto hold now on my 2012 and I do not see a red or green 'Park' when in traffic...at least I don't recall. I am going to check this tonight.
