Newbie here, thank you all for the great information on the forums. I am moving back to Canada from Australia and have just picked up my first VW, a 2011 TDI Touareg. The maps haven't been updated by the previous owner. I am wondering if anyone knows when the next map update is supposed to come out? Not sure if I should pay for the v.7 update now or wait for the next release.

I wouldn't pay for any of them.. I have a 2011 and the map seems up to date for me. I don't think it is worth the high dollar.. I am waiting for retrofit on the Google maps installed in the 201? Model.

Thanks, I didn't know Google retrofit was a possible option. I am going to stay with the 2011 maps and see how well they work out. It is a lot of money for a one time map update. I really like the Google option if it becomes available. I see there is another thread on that topic and will see how that plays out.

I don't know how feasible it really is, mostly I think it is something I dreamed up. However, VW has said that Google maps were going in all the new models and from what I have read the new models still have our head unit- I don't see why it would be so far fetched. Imagine having Google maps / Android sorting things out for you instead of that useless b!tch that we have now?

One can dream, right?

RNS850

I have a 2014 Touareg with RNS850 and live in South Africa. Many of the dirt roads are not on the navigation system, so when you want to visit a town where the only access is a municipal dirt road ... well, the RNS850 says i am driving in space! Any suggestions on what other navigation system I can load on the RNS850??
Thanks.
