Mick.....any update?....makes no sense to me why you would be having issues. Only thing that comes to mind, if plausible, is that there is a difference in US and Canadian models. Hence, Malone's tune does not take that into account......but even that makes no sense since I thought Malone was based out of Canada......head scratcher

Hi, ok, so, I have had a total of 6 different tunes with mixed results. While tuning and testing, discovered first hose off turbo was failing/leaking. Replaced it with a better aftermarket hose and T-bar clamps.

Things are very odd. Getting low boost faults when it shouldn't be and seeing really high boost numbers when requested boost numbers are lower! Tried one tune, call it a 1.5, and saw boost at nearly 3Bar absolute!! Ran fantastic, very little smoke, but boost (actual) very high compared to requested.

Right now have stock power tune and getting low boost and limp mode faults. Sigh.

Have been working with the dealer in Calgary, German Car Specialist, and have been testing components to see if there is a fault with the engine itself or a glitch in the tunes. BIG shout out to GCS for their help in this situation!!

Mark has received lots of logs that we took, but has yet to respond.

I am continuing to test components and it is looking like I may have to change turbo controller and/or boost sensor. Need to make sure before spending big bucks!!

Through inspection have found other boost hoses requiring replacement. This could be due to age and over boosting. A lot of internal "cuts" are right at or near the stock "gator" clamps. Therefore, I am upgrading to T-bar clamps as I replace the hoses.

To be continued. Sigh.

Sorry to hear that ur having troubles with the treg I heard that Alberta is bring in new air care policies in April so the dpf and egr and add blue delete will be unavailable

What do you mean by "Mark has yet to respond"? If you have 6 different tunes, Mark must have been in contact with your tuner. My tuner is also a Malone dealer and is in contact with him several times a day. When I email logs to my tuner, I get an updated tune within hours or the next day at the latest.

I hope you guys get it figured out.

Not nocking Malone tuning in any way shape or form, BUT I have tried to contact him directly through his website many times when all this first started and I received no reply. Not right or wrong, but I believe his business model is to only communicate through his dealers.....When I got my tune he also dealt with my tuner immediately that day. We gotta remember that he probably has hundreds of dealers to deal with everyday. Dealing with personal emails is probably his last priority. Doesn't make it right or wrong......he's only human and I'd guess he's doing his best.

Hi, let me clarify, while I was getting the tunes performed, Mark was fairly timely in responding to the dealer's emails. With the last two tunes, we took and sent him data logs and a description of the issues I am having.

As of this weekend, he has not responded to the dealer's emails. This is only a point of fact and not meant to be derogatory to Malone tuning.

Before I go further, I am waiting for a response from him in the hopes of narrowing the root cause. It is not clear to me by the results thus far that the tuning is not part of the issue. I am sure Mark is studying the data and will contact us soon.

If a previous unresolved issue with the engine is causing issues now, we just need to find the needle!

I suggest anyone contemplating doing the delete and tune to MAKE SURE all is 100% before starting.

Hi, the delete tune is not perfected yet. GCS will more than likely not do the delete/tune till it is absolutely fool proof. I may have the one and only delete/tune in Alberta.

Cost? Don't ask!! Lol I have not tallied it up yet. If I had any idea I was going to run into these issues, I would have waited to do the delete/tune and repaired the adblue system.

Next time I am South I will drop you a line and let you buy me a Tim's!! Lol

First and foremost, BuzzKen is excellent to work with. The pipes fit great, prices are fair, and communication was timely and thorough.

Now have about 1,500 miles on the set-up and like many who have also opted to be DPF free; I completely agree - this is EXCATLY how the truck should have come from VW.

Most noticeably is the immediate throttle response from 40-80 mph.

Better MPG's have not revealed themselves to me yet ( :D ) and I assume I'll see these as my driving style returns to a more normal routine.

If you are considering this - IMHO, no down side to this mod...now considering a rear muffler delete and running straight pipe axle back exhaust with quad exhaust tips.

Anyone out there still thinking about getting a DPF delete exhaust? I'm upgrading from a 2012 Treg to a 2016 and will not be transferring my exhaust system to a new model. Soo.. If anyone is looking to buy a German Diesel Motorworks exhaust system; from the turbo to the muffler, PM me.

Several reasons. When I purchased my Treg used I couldn't find a LUX in the area so I settled for a sport. We have since purchased a '15 Audi Q5 TDI which makes me regret not getting the LUX; I like the moonroof!

Anyway, I'm quickly approaching 100k miles and thought it would be a good time to upgrade to a new model that was better appointed. The '12 is a great model especially after a tune, but like all things, its time to upgrade or take a huge hit on depreciation.

I could. It's a 2012 Sport model in dark flint metallic. It has 95,000 miles. It would take 29k to sell it outright since I'll lose almost $1,700 in tax credit by not trading it in, so I'm not willing to move much. Its located in Omaha.

Zagg thanks for starting and maintaining such an informative thread! I've started to see some codes on my 2010 so I'm sure once they keep popping up I'll be going this route instead of sinking money on repairs.
That's exactly what I did. Adblue sensor codes started coming up and I figured just spend a few extra bucks and get the delete kit.
