I am now waiting to see if the Model X lives up to the hype before considering a touareg.

I test drove a model S and it blew my mind! Its incredible!

If the model X tows up to 10000lbs as advertised it will be hard to resist especially considering ZERO fuel costs due to free supercharging and almost no maintenance (no engine, transmission, exhaust, adblue, exhaust system etc.

brakes estimated to last 150000 miles due regenerative braking with the electric motors.

All wheel drive standard

performance model in excess of 691 hp! Instant massive torque and no transmission shifting.

MPG while towing is not an issue due to free charging

super good range too

won't be long now. Model X in september!

Not sure what you arte planning on towing, but I can't see how a pure electric would make a good tow vehicle.

The only thing that makes electric vehicles practical at all is that in reality once you are at speed, most cars take relatively little energy to maintain speed.

Hook, up a trailer and that goes out the window. I would guess towing ranges at 1/3 to 1/4 non-towing range. Not sure what you tow where, but free and fast charging is not going to be everywhere for a long time.

As long as you like towing in the city where there have charging stations. I just pulled 6,xxx pounds up a grade that went from 10 feet above sea level to 800 feet in somewhere between 1.5 to two miles...(7-10% grade depending on the exact spot)...it took a measurable amount of gasoline (VEight) to do it while maintaining at least 45MPH. By moving my fuel gage almost 1/8th a tank while showing less than 1mpg on the MFI!!! Yikes! Yes electric would be awesome (look at the torque diesel locomotive has) but it is energy storage that is an issue...in the middle of no place this is a big issue.

10,000 lbs?? That's pretty pathetic - the V10 could haul 350 THOUSAND pounds . . .

Just go to teslamotors.com/supercharger

Midway down the page shows all the free supercharging station throughout North America Europe and Asia.

40 minutes = full free charge = about 400 km

Charging is free for life. It's in writing from tesla

Click on the year dates to see the rapid deployment of the supercharger network throughout this year and next year

Super chargers are being added at a rate of one per day

Plus you can charge anywhere there is a plug. RV park or at home

It will tow. The torque on the Model S is crazy. The owner of my business has one.

Well, for local driving it's good. Not for anything more. It is a hoot to drive.

You won't get 400 km towing. I drive a leaf. Ask me how I know. Any little bit makes a big difference.

If the new Audi all electric SUV (debuting in Sept) looks and drives anything like its drawings and specs, Model X may have a short shelf life...

I am a big Tesla fan, and the Model X is shaping up to be a great vehicle. I do, however, have my doubts about the claimed 10k lb. towing capacity. This was one employee who said this at one event. He may have misspoke, or he may have spilled a secret. Who knows.

PS. Keep in mind that although Tesla should start deliveries next month or so, the wait list is roughly a year long if you put your order in now.

Keep in mind that Elon's goal is to accelerate the advent of electric vehicles. The more there are on the roads, the better for everyone.

True...and having driven an early Tesla sedan, must say it was a hoot!

But, I'm still holding out for a 3rd row, 4CAir, diesel-electric ;)

Have you seen how desolate outback Australia is ? No good there
